To be honest I never thought there was much difference from one razor to another. OK, so some have one blade, some have two, some even have three, but my attitude towards buying razors has always been 'buy the cheapest or the ones on special offer.' That's how I came to try BIC sensitive razors. Shopping on boots.com, I noticed that these were part of a BOGOF offer. They usually cost £2.49 for a pack of 10, and with the free pack, that meant I was getting 20 razors for £2.49. Bargain - or so I thought…
~Appearance ~
The only positive thing I can think to say about these, is that they come in cute, pastel colours. In a pack of ten, you will get 2 green, 2 blue, 2 pink, 2 purple and 2 peach coloured razors, with matching safety caps. The actual part of the razor that holds the blade is white. The handle of the razor has slight ridges in it, which supposedly allow for better grip. I have found though, that once your hands are wet, the grip on these is not all that great. These razors are disposable and have twin blades, which means that it should give a closer shave.
~My Experience~
I suffer from psoriasis, and therefore my skin can be very sensitive, although it is rare that I have a reaction to anything. As these razors are designed for sensitive skin (although personally I cannot see any feature which makes them different from any other razor), I thought they would be perfect for me.
The first time I used these was to shave my legs. I did everything as normal, using the same shaving foam as usual, but found that whilst shaving my legs seemed to be stinging a bit. It was only when I got out of the bath that I realised that my legs where covered in little nicks. Also one side of my leg came up in a horrible angry red rash, which took days to disappear. Although I have to say, it had got rid of all the hair!
Stupidly, I thought that perhaps this had happened because of something I'd done, so I used another razor. This time, although there were no cuts, I again suffered from razor burn all over my legs, and it was stinging like crazy for over a day afterwards. I also used it to shave under my arms, which did exactly the same thing - ouch.
~My verdict~
Do I really even need to say this? My advice would be to avoid these like the plague! They may be cheap, but I have now been left with 18 razors which I can't use and legs that I am having to hide under long trousers. Don't let the pretty colours tempt you girls, these are definitely not worth the pain!
