Picture this...... You're driving through the countryside, roof down, not a care in the world. You have the love of your life beside you and you're cruising along listening to Steppenwolf "Born to be wild n the stereo".
When a convertable car is driving down the road it instantly catches your eye. There's something about the lines and the way the person driving it seems to care about nothing... except for how cool they look with their shades on, one hand on the wheel, the other arm casually draped over the top of the door...... The BMW 3 series is no different.
It simply looks amazing. It has a presance about it that ouzzes confidence in an elegant sort of way. Its the type of car you expect to see a property developer in. It breathes success.
If that isn't enough for you, the 1.8i engine is smooth and boasts a beautifully crafted, typically German reliability. The car is not fast exactly, but then thats not what it was made for. Its a cruiser. It'll travel very comfortably at any speed you wish to go, but the acceleration is not quite what you'd call punchy.
DRIVING: The car drives beautifully with the roof down, but when it's up there's a lot of wind noise especially when you're on the motorway. The gearbox is smooth and light, as is the clutch. The car corners well and with rear wheel drive has a more sporty feel. The seats are comfortable and hug you like a bear in heat.
SAFETY: The car is built like a tank, but you only get a drivers air bag, and having no roof is pretty dodgy if you turn over as there's no roll cage.
EXTRAS: You don't get a lot. As with all BMW's everything is an extra. Nice multi-spoke alloy wheels, M body styling (optional), drivers airbag, leather interior, and a stereo. Thats about it.
ECONOMY: It's pretty good on gas unless you have a heavy right foot. Combined mpg is about 32.
Overall I'd have to say this car is well worth a look in for anyone looking for a cabriolet. It really looks great on those sunny days in the summer months and feels slid as a rock. Buy with confidence.

Nice review, but to me a car is something that gets you from A to B. I don't see it as a fashion accessory and I do believe that a lot of young lads who buy this type of car only do so to show off. What I mean by this is that they are more concerned about how they look driving the car instead of how safely they drive. ( I'm not trying to say that all young lads are like this, I've just seen quite a few ). x x x Natasha : )
