I have the 320dtourer which I love to drive. This is my second BMW (first being a saloon) and I feel this model drives just as good as a saloon, I worried about it as I had heard that estate cars can be slower and more difficult to drive.
The boot space is great, I have a double pram and find it fits well into the boot space with extra room for shopping. There is also a net to seperate the boot from the rest of the car if pets are travelling or you have loaded the boot right up for holidays.
As a woman driver I do not know any of the technical stuff, I leave that to my husband, But I feel very strongly that this is a car which rivals all others and not knowing the technical stuff has not made a difference as I so far have not needed to know. It does not act like an estate car. When you are driving it you feel like you are in a saloon care for handling and comfort. This car is a dream with loads of space, compartments and extras which come in very handy (we have the booster seats, and reverse parking sensor). If you are looking to buy this car I would highly recommend it.
For the price you pay you get a very good drive and the space you require. Ours was £15000 when it was 3 years old and we have had no problems with it at all.
A downside is the servicing can be expensive if you use the dealers. The last one we had was an oil service and cost around £200 with the dealer.
THis car handles beautifully with great control. It has loads of airbags (which can be a problem when sorting out where to put the car seats) BMW do have a wide range of accessories available including there own brand of car seats.
BMWs can loose money fast, this is why we opted for a second hand one. It had already lost the most money. But I feel we have not compromised by doing this, as we have not had any problems since purchasing.
Overall this car drives great, is comfortable, spacious enough for the kids and all their baggage. It is however on the expensive side compared to other estates but worth every penny.

I had one of these for a year and then wrote it off in a major smash last December. There is a lot more that needs to be said to make this review useful - don't be put off but do spend some time reading other reviews of products to get a good idea of the level of information that raters are looking for. Good luck
Advantages: Responsive, firm drive. Reliable. Good Customer Service at dealers. Disadvantages: Extras are expensive. Boot space is small. Residuals are low given prestige label.
