The 2.2 litre straight 6 normally aspirated engine with the standard BMW tuned exhaust sounds great. Heavier than its hard-top counterpart the power to weight ratio isn't staggering but better than your average automobile. With regards to looks I believe a cars wheels are one of the most important factors and I choose the M 5 double spoke alloys which I still believe was the best decision I made. Being a soft-top convertible, there is plenty of space in the boot even when the roof is down. The car comes with a number of air-bags and Thatcham category 1 alarm and immobiliser. Solid build bar the window design, great road holding and very responsive, it feels like the ultimate driving machine; it does what you tell it to. Driving it you feel safe cruising at speed down the motorways and confident throwing it into an interesting corner. To temporarily move the seats forward to let people into the back takes a few seconds as the back/forward seat adjustment is electric. Although there is normally no noise while driving with the roof down when opening/closing the doors the windows feel a little flappy. Being a soft-top convertible it has a small rear window which impedes rear visibility but the rear sensors which come as standard are effective. My vehicle uses a little more oil than average but I like to test the car and I use sport oil which burns off a little easier. Watch out when you get it serviced, I am very particular and asked them to look at some items and I got a rather impressive labour bill but note that older models get slightly discounted servicing. I occasionally look at the price of the car for insurance valuations and I am impressed at how it holds its value.
