I’ve just recently changed my car ….from BMW to another BMW, once you’ve driven a BMW you are spoiled from driving other cars – its true ask any beemer owner. I’ve always wanted to own a six-cylinder car and always dreamed of driving a good quality Coupe. The opportunity arose when a change in job allowed me to change my car.
I test drove a 318 Coupe to get a feel for the car, it was a couple of hours of pleasurable driving and a real shame to have to take the car back. As the dealer didn’t have the 320Ci as a demo (new engine / new Coupe) I test-drove the 330 saloon to get a feel for the difference between a four-cylinder and a six. The difference was immense, super smooth effortless acceleration, loads of torque and that pumping six sound. I was sold.
Picked the car up three weeks ago. Price - £24k for a 320Ci with sports seats, CD auto-changer, front arm rest and metallic paint. The buying experience from my local BMW dealer was again an effortless and pleasurable experience. I also got to view the new M3 in the workshop before it went on public show….mean machine.
The Coupe is built from the ground up as an out and out Coupe, it is not your run of the mill converted saloon with two doors. The body styling on the 3 series Coupe is absolutely superb it turns heads and meets admiring glances wherever it goes. The car is wider and longer that the normal saloon and has that to die for Coupe styling. Body coloured door handles/side skirts and the chrome trim around the doors add to the classy lines. The large driver windows with no door pillars make the car look even classier and there is almost uninterrupted 360 vision.
Sports suspension sits the makes the car sit low on the tarmac and gives the car good solid and reliable handling characteristics – you know where you are on the road. The car interior feels more spacious than the saloon, having owned a saloon I noticed this straight away. Standard features include cruise control, traction/cornering control, air conditioning climate control, sports steering wheel with stereo and cruise control functions on the hub, self-dimming rear view mirror, electric front and rear pop-out windows,…and a whole lot more.
The six-cylinder engine is 2.2 litre and pushes out 170bhp taking the car to 145mph and 0-60 in 8 seconds. I can’t find enough superlatives to describe the torque characteristics and the smooth growl that this superb engine gives. I suggest you just go an test drive the car and see for yourself.
Advantages: build quality and overall performance Disadvantages: sound system, bmw service costs
I have owned my bmw 3 series for a year now and thought a review of its overall performance would be helpful. when i bought the car i was delighted with the quality of finish for a middle of the range car, one of the things i always notice is the secure clonk you get when shutting the doors, you feel like there is something solid surrounding you. second to this was the lovely straight 6 engine, it pulls beautifully even with 75 thousand miles on ... ...power to play around with in the corners and straights. the suspension if firm yet still suitable for long spells of cruising on motorways. steering is perfect, moderately heavy compared to a 5 series but very direct, you can put the car where you want it confidently, there is no juddering through corners at higher speed and the suspension and steering compliment each other to give a fantastic amount of grip. brakes are also excellent, they put the ...

Review of BMW 320i Coupé
Advantages: Performance and comfort on motorways Disadvantages: A great attraction for little yobs to key it; very bumpy ride around town
This is not my car but my son's. After doing a lot of research, he set his heart on a 2003 BMW320Cd in dark blue, nothing else would do. As he's on tour in Afghanistan, I'm looking after it for him for the next few months.
It's certainly a stunning looking car and polishes up well. I've only driven it a few times and still haven't got used to all of the gizzmos, such of which I've yet to find. Performance is superb with lots of acceleration, and ... ...seats are very comfy ansd supportive. What don't I like about it? Well the car seems to be fitted with 18" alloy wheels and extremely low profile tyres - 225/40ZR18 at the front and 225/40ZR18 at the rear. Whilst these might look very nice to the boy racers, the ride is very firm, OK on smooth motorways but bloody awful around town, with the steering giggling back and forwards, not like a classy motor at all. The tyres also follow any ruts like a ...

Advantages: Good looking/ build quality, economical and fast Disadvantages: Expensive to buy - diesel clatter
...all this were not enough BMW are currenlty throwing in 5 years free servicing on the car - covering everything from the full service to wiper blades! So a car that goes like the wind, still looks cool, returns on average 45mpg, no service bills and one of the lowest depreciation value in its class. Bit of a no brainer - but this car is great all round! ...
