This is the first new car I have ever had. It is very easy to drive, is very responsive and has good power for overtaking! Before I got this car I had a test car and was told that the car I would get would have the exact same specifications. The test car had electric wing mirrors which folded inwards - great if you're parking along a roadside and don't want your wing mirrors hit. It also had halogen headlights which are much better for night driving. However, when mine arrived these 2 things were missing.

I have all leather beige interior with beechwood finish and I think the finish looks very good and is of good quality. The leather looks great but does tend to get soiled just from sitting and moving about on it. I did get a car car kit which includes leather clearner, polish, shampoo with the car so that helps. The boot space is better if the hood is up as you can push up the compartment the hood normally folds back into to create more space. I can get my shopping and a full set of golf clubs in! However, it will only take one large suitcase so you might need a lift to the airport! One disadvantage when you're putting the hood back up is that if you have back seat passengers - tell them to duck' as they are liable to get their heads clipped by the folding motion of the hood. The electric hood is very quick and simple to operate. I did have to bring it to the garage a couple of times as there was a 'creaking' noise. Apparently this is quite common with convertibles and is something to do with the join of the hood to the car. I was told that they lubicated it and the 'creak' did disappear for a period of time and I had to bring it back a few months later for the same problem. I have parking sensors fitted to the rear and have found these invaluable. I also have Satellite navigation - and being new to London - this too is invaluable. The driver and passenger seat positions are electrically controlled by buttons on the side of the side of the seats. Your favourite position can be memorised so if someone else uses the car you can return it to your position at the push of a button. You can get features built into your 'key' control. e.g. the car will automatically lock seconds after you start to drive. You can open the drivers door and the passenger door will remain locked. This is very useful so you don't have to worry about someone jumping into your car and hijacking you!
I have a 6 cd unit which is built into the boot and takes up very little space - it works very well and the sounds are really good from the front and rear speakers.
The steering wheel is also leather and does not slip through your fingers but is of a size and texture that makes it very easy to use. The light controls are to the right of the drivers seat just below the dash and is a switch you can turn easily. The instrument panel is very clear and easy to read. When you get into the car the panel shows the number of miles you have left before you are due an oil change. This is great!
I had worried about high insurance but found that it only cost around £200 more than I had paid to get my previous car (a ford Ka) insured.
I've had my first service done and as the car comes with 3 years warranty it only cost £100. I have found the BMW centres very, very, helpful and courteous, one of the benefits of having a BMW - as every time I have visited I have been taken seriously (which was one of the problems I had with other cars - being a woman) and been offered a replacement car and just been made to feel 'special' (Don't say Aah).
Advantages: Attractive and a smooth ride Disadvantages: Could have a few more extras in it
BMW 3-Series Touring
The BMW is around the best all-round small executive car. Reaching unto a powerful 136bhp there is no limit as to what this car can do also with a 2.5 litre engine again depending on the type of model. Prices for the car ranges from £22,096-£28,995 which I think is a bargain. This car is very promising in every area but it isn't as shape as it could be really. The interior is finely designed and the exterior is finished with ...

Advantages: Beautifully made and to look at Disadvantages: A small boot
I bought a BMW convertible 3 years ago as a traet after 20 years of needing cars to carry a large family about, and WHAT A TREAT. The car was beautiful to look at and to drive, and when the weather was fine putting the roof down was a real treat.
The quality of workmanship was superb; even though it was a "ragtop" it did not let in any leaks or water even in the worst of weather.
Also, provided you make sure the car has the correct spec (which, ...

Advantages: Beautiful to look at and drive a real treat to own. Disadvantages: Really only comfortable for 2 or young children in back unless hood down
40 something with I grown up daughter and a rapidly approaching 16 year old. Choice was play or practical. Having had a 5 series tourer which was a joy to drive but not much fun to look at we decided on the play option. Great when the roof is down but on longer journeys quite cramped unless only the 2 of us. Really miss the 5th seat you dont really consider it until its not there. Not really a great older family car but would be ok for young children, ...

Advantages: I have seen none to date Disadvantages: A BMW approved used car from a main dealer proved to be a nightmare
Two months ago, I purchased a BMW323ciconvertible from Vines of Guildford who are BMW main dealers. The car is 8 years old and had just over 47000 miles on the clock. It was sold with a BMW used car warranty but with certain exclusions due to its age, explained to me after I had paid a deposit on it.
In the last couple of weeks, knocking noises have started coming from the engine which have progressively got worse. I've owned three BMWs and I know these cars well but I've never had one do that before. Very worried I checked the service history booklet 'Evidence of maintenance work' that came with the car and this is what I found ...
