Still happily returns at least 35mpg and will give at least 45mpg on a long motorway run.
The 3 series has never been renowned for comfort (for that you'll need a 5 series or a Merc) but as a drivers car ... ...handling, good grip and a composed ride quality.

The 3 series has never been renowned for comfort (for that you'll need a 5 series or a Merc) but as a drivers car there are few better.
Sure footed handling, good grip and a composed ride quality.

Advantages: Powerfull, MPG, Looks Disadvantages: Bit expensive but you get what you pay for, its worth it
Love this car, very powerfull yet fantastic MPG, and also looks great. I have always had BMW's my last 2 have been 330 ci sports, I went into the show room to upgrade and the dealer showed this 330d because it had the sat nav on which I wanted.
At first I was not sure with it being a diesel, I dont like my cars to sound like vans!!! but after getting in and starting it up I was surprised to hear how good the 6 cylinder turbo sounded, so I took the car for a test drive, WOW!!! it was just as fast if not faster than my previous 02 plate 330 sport, with the added bonus of 50 mpg ( I have had the car for 3 months now and the best I get is 35mpg) could be me!!
So I would recommend this car to anyone, if you can get over the fact its a diesel, get one you will not regret it. ...

Advantages: Dramatic increase in power, speed and suprisingly fuel economy Disadvantages: Cost of conversion, is that really a boot at the back or a cubby hole?
A friend has been away on holiday for three weeks and asked me to look after his car after dropping him off at Gatwick. " What car are you driving now? " I asked, he seems to have a different car every other month, " Oh you're like it, its a chipped BMW330D, " he replied.
Now dont get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with BMW's but you know what, they have never done anythying for me and I have never bought into the image thing either, give me a classic Merc any day but, I had agreed and in any case I hadn't actually driven a diesel BM before so I was a little curious to see what the hype was all about.
This car is one of the last previous model versions with the small interior and actually quite basic inside. Its black with black leather, 6 speed manual, ac, all round electric windows and a cd player - very expensive options I am ...

Advantages: power, economy, ride, headroom (no sunroof) Disadvantages: Limited boot space, tyre wear
I am not going to give you all the technical facts and figures for the 330D, but more what I have come to love about the car over the last 25,000 miles and 18 months, and why you will too.
The only technical information I will give you is the model and specification I bought, which is a 330D SE with a couple of extras, namely leather seats and CD player (which should be standard equipment, but was fairly inexpensive at £200). I liked the fact that metallic paint was free of charge.
You will notice that I did not opt for automatic. I drove the automatic in a test drive and was disappointed with it, from both an economy point of view (only 35 mpg - see later) and a power point of view. The BMW automatic gearbox is not great; we used to have a 330 petrol automatic and my 300 D manual was much quicker. In any case, these cars are ...
