Review of BMW 735i

BMW 740i as a second-hand car

Advantages: Comfort, power, luxury
Disadvantages: Unreliable, gas-guzzler, expensive to maintain/fix

I bought a 1995 BMW 740i less than a year ago for £2,690 in a private sale. Very little service history but looked in good nick and price was lower than the official valuation of these cars of this age. Since purchase I have had to visit a mechanics at least a half-dozen times, for amongst other things: 1. Steering wheel tremor (due to buckled alloys). 2. Power-steering fluid leak. 3. Luxury car

Advantages: Fantastic luxury car
Disadvantages: Very large

I test drove this car when we were looking for a replacement to my Mercedes. It was chock full of fantastic gadgets such as sat nav and electric memory seats. It is very spacious inside and you felt enveloped in luxury. The handling of the car is typical BMW, sporty but smooth. It is slightly floatier than the 5 and 3 series.
