What to say about this car!! The list price for my particualr model is around £40,000, but managed to get an old company car X-reg for £15,000. For the money the car is amazing, simply amazing. The looks are pure BMW chique, the leather interior exudes warmth and style and the metal trim is nothing short of sporting perfection. The 3litre V6 provides a top speed of 155mph, and having pulled 130mph with the car under perfect control and minimal noise the power of the machine is immense. The 5-speed tiptronic gear box povide a 0-60 of 5.5 seconds, and the "sports mode" provides a better automatic gearing down system. However, cruise control, as located on the steering wheel, provides a useful check for not accidentaly doing 100 whilst over taking traffic! And of course offers an ease and comfort of ride only found on a BMW. Behind all the power lies saftey - 6 front air bags, a SIPS style system, roll cage, traction control etc. Also bags of passenger space, me and my brother are 6foot3" (plus) and have ample room in the rear. I could write all day for this car, any further information do not hesitate to ask!

Whilst your review is brief, it does however reflect your overall high opinion of the car and its characteristics quite well. I have personally owned 3No. E39 5 Series (2x 523i and 1x 535i) and would support entirely your praise for this car. In fact i am now in a bit of a dilema as the new 5 series (E60) is just plain ugly so at this moment in time i dont know what car i will choose next. Just on a technical note the E39 530i's engine is a straight 6 not a V6 and the acceleration figures officially with the steptronic gearbox is a tad over 7 seconds.
