This sleek 4 door, immaculate motor, crossed my path one sunny day back in 1995. Quite apart from it's stunning condition it was my dear car.It was love at first sight and I had to have it.And have it I did. As I slipped in to the luxurious black leather interior, and started the engine I was in heaven. This was the car of my life.Gently tickling the throttle I gentley guided my love around the local road system.Eager to see how the throbbing engine performed I was soon edging down on the throttle and opening her up. I hit a nearby island at a meagre 35 mph, holding back as much as I could.I soon learned this baby was nither for the faint hearted or the infirm.Clocking 60pmh in second gear,no where near the red line mark, and holding her back for all I was worth, was an experiance that made me gasp. Whilst being less ferocious than a truely frightening experiance it taught me that patience is truely a virtue. This love of my life,a breif affair had me creaming my knickers in 5 minutes flat!!! I harnessed the smooth, but phenominal powers and crused her back home.
Time to arrange some insurance cover.Whilst being covered by my other insurance for a breif rally round,it was clear that this beast would need some comprehensive insurance of its own.Tears soon came to my eyes...... Having waited patiently until I had turned 25 before embarking on a more powerful motor, and having saved a hefty wedge for the purpose,I was gutted. Two insurance companies told me to go back when I had turned 30.The others quoted prices of four figures, starting with nothing less than a two.£2000+ was more than I could even dream about.Half of that would have left me broke for a while. The car had to go back...the dream was gone. I think I knew the dream was gone the moment I realised the car was such a powerful beast, and that I would never be the one to tame it.My heart broken,I sulked off to the papers to find a sensible car.
The worst thing about a broken heart is that it clouds your judgement.Had I been thinking clearly I would have undoubtedly kept the Alpina, driven it into my garage, stripped it down and left it there for a few years. Having found it at a snip (£400 as a favour),and it being in pristene condition this would have been an excellent investment, and had I known that a couple of years later I'd have picked up classic insurance on it for a couple of hundred pounds(fully comp)...I'd have gladly restricted my mileage accordingly (classic insurance restricts your anual mileage to under 5000 miles per anum). So now older and wiser I am again looking for the love of my life.
Advantages: Luxury, Style, Effortless cruising, Indestructability and sheer pace! Disadvantages: Slightly high running costs
...want to maintain a full BMW service history then it can become quite costly, but as very few things ever actually go wrong with the car, costs shouldn't be too high. The car has an instant read out on the dash to tell you when it is due its next service which is also very handy.
If you are looking for a mid-to-large size car, but want something with a bit of sporting appeal, then you really cant go wrong with a 535i, if you want a second hand car ...

Advantages: Very Comfortable Disadvantages: Not very sporty
This is my first BMW and I would certainly have another one. I was looking for a big car ready to carry 2 kids and lots of luggage. I do lots of long journeys (750 miles in one go) and a car with a slighlty upper class immage. This BMW has met all bar one of my expectations. Although this is not a slow car, it is not a fast car and neither is it a sporty car. The 0-60 time is about 7.6 seconds and the surspention is far to soft for cornering hard ... ...fast and sporty five series BMW you need to go for the motorsport version which has stiffer surspention and bigger BHP. The 535 excels it's self on long journeys as it is just so comfortable. I have fully leather seats which adjust in every way to get the perfect seating position. It has heated seats for easing back pains and warm up in cold weather before the rest of the car. BMW has thought of so many electrical extras, even after owning the car ...

Advantages: Well-built, Reliable, comfortable, easy-to-drive family car Disadvantages: Tad of the thirsty side!
I have an E34 535 which I have had for around 6 months now, I previously had a Subaru Impreza, so to be honest I was assuming that although it's an older car I didn't think I'd see much difference.. Wow I was wrong!
The car is a stunning car, not much of a head-turner such as my old car was, and also it's a heavier car, but it definitely has the power behind it to push most other cars along.
The best thing about this car is the noise that you get ... ...can barely hear the engine going and it allows for more of a conversation inside the car rather than trying to shout over the engine noise. Also the handling is excellent for such a long-heavy car, even for me at a small 5ft4" I find it a nice easy car to handle and drive.
The interior is very comfortable, and the quick-drop seats are a nice trick :')
If your thinking about optional upgrades, then definitely go for the upgraded HID lights! they ...

Quick review of BMW 535i
I drive a 535i and love it to bits,it does exactly what it says on the box, great ecceleration, performance and very smooth and luxiourious.
However this is the only car i have had so many reoccuring problems with. As well as the common problem with the cooling bottle i have had the heat exchanger changed to new twice due to water leaks, the gascket changed and even had new tyers as my loyalty to BMW which has costed a nice 1500 pounds.
The problem still is not fixed and the car is still leaking water.
I think BMW should revise thier customer services and find another way to finance the racing team. ME? i'd probably go back with Mercedes. ...

the major problem i had was with my r reg, the cattalittic (prob spelt wrong) converters needed replacing, i found out it was one of the problems with that particular model, and was kindly charged £1600 for my troubles!!
the newer models are definately for someone who doesn't mind sheeling out to bmw for the services to keep the record up, petrol consumption was about ...

It is worth investing in a computer cable for your laptop for this car. You can reset the fault lights, diagnose your own faults reducing garage bills, and remap the on board computer. You do not have to be a computer genius either.
In conclusion, I have had the BMW 740i & 535i, the Mercedes 500L, the Volvo 940/960 and the Jaguar XJ6 4.0L but this car feel and drives far superior to them all. If your not looking for economy then you cannot go wrong with these cars. ...

Advantages: Cheap to run and pretty bullet proof Disadvantages: Expensive bits when it eventually does go wrong!
I first came across the Virago when a local dealer was running an open day, a rare event where they let you test ride, unsupervised, any number of bikes. I'd booked tests on a BMWF650, a Yamaha Diversion 600N and a Virago 535. Well, the BMW was fun and fast, the Diversion was Booooring, and the Virago had soul.
That V twin rumble that you feel through the seat and the bars is magic. It feels alive beneath you, it made me laugh out loud! From that moment on I had to have one.
Some months later I came across a 2nd hand one in another local dealer. They gave me a good deal on my old Honda CG125 and away i went. That was 6 years ago and we've lived fairly happily with one another for all that time, including two accidents where car drivers tried to do for us both!
I use the bike daily for my 20+ mile commute come rain or shine and it ...
Advantages: A Very Nice Clock. Huge Boot. Disadvantages: Too Many To List Here.
13 as are comparable Audi?s and Mercedes.
The BLS?s 193g per kg CO2 rating puts it into the 25% tax band for company car drivers. That is class competitive for a 173bhp turbocharged 2.0 litre car.
The bald pence per mile figure over three years and 36,000 miles is 57.0p.
A comparable Audi A4 would cost 53.5p per mile, a BMW 320i ? 49.0p.p.m, Jaguar X-Type - 59.0p.p.m, Lexus IS250 ? 54.2p.p.m, Mercedes C200 ? 56.6p.p.m, SAAB 9-3 (on which it is based) 55.4p.p.m and the Volvo S60 ? 56.3p.p.m. (Incidentally the BMW?s extraordinarily low cost figure there is due to the first three years servicing being included in the purchase price.)
As you can see from the above list of directly comparable cars, in terms of cost and market presence, the Cadillac BLS is out of touch on overall costs.
Probably inappropriate to throw it into ...
