OK, so lets start by saying that I love this car, its our fourth X5 and I love it very much.
This car starts at #52,800, It's 8 cylinder V 4 valve technology engine has a 4398cc petrol egnine and it does 0- 60 in 7.0 seconds. The fuel consumption is 21.6mpg - not great but not that bad. The fuel tank has a capacity of 93 litres and the CO2 tax is 35% as are all X5's. it has a six speed automatic gearbox with steptronic control and sports suspension.
As with all BMW's the car will vary dramatically by how you spec it, and spec-ing the car is by far the most fun! - you can do this on line at www.bmw.co.uk. From basic the car comes with all the usual, but rather than bore you with a list of specifications, I will try and tell you of my experiences with them.
Ok, so lets tell you about the airbags - luckily enough so far I havent actually had to use one of these, but they are fitted pretty much everywhere! including the front passanger seat which also has a seat occupancy detector for the airbag which beeps to tell you to put your seat belt on. Annoying - but it makes you put it on, however, if like me, you put your shopping or handbag on the seat it does beep at you constantly until you remove it.
The car has a few snazzy gadgets to help you drive it, such as hillo desent control, which i call the 'duck button' as the picture looks like a duck. This is ace if you happen to be going down a steep hill in icy or slippy conditions. Basically the car takes over and kicks in the breaks etc - similar to ABS which the car also has. Parking Distance control or Bippers as i call them beep front and back when you are getting near to any other cars, walls, trees, lamposts or pedestrians. Rain sensors which put the windscreen wipers on at the correct speed for the amount of rain there is - so if your just too damn lazy to flick the switch for the wipers your ok. Cornering brake control, elecrtonic braking distribution and automatic differential brake, all help the car keep control.
The Zenon headlights really are good and you notice the difference when you get in another car to drive in the dark - obviously driving in the daylight you wouldn't appreciate them.
So asides from this, the car is very responsive, very smooth, is very comfortable - the front seats are all electronically adjustable and depending on whether or not you choose it, keep your bottom toasty with heated seats.
The seats have isofix sockets ( for ffitting compatable car seats into) and the boot has plenty of room for prams, pushchairs, shopping, etc. The boot also has a two piece tail gate which comes in useful for sitting on etc.
Another useful feature is the memory facility for the mirrors setas and steering wheel, so you can set it all up for whoever is driving the car and programme it to a number. You then select your number and the car adjusts to your requirements.
over all, a fab fab car... expensive though!
cheers for reading.

Yes indeed - a fab car indeed and after all those X5's you are certainly well qualified to write a review on it! You just scraped a VH there from me (I am a car nut!) due to coming right out up front and admitting that it was a "girls" review. To be a really good car review you need rather more about running costs - servicing, does it drink oil, how much do you pay to ensure it. Having had all that experience with BMW I'd also like to have read about how the dealer treats you - especially being female, there is still I believe a very old fashioned male / female "attitude" at many car dealers - particularly (ironically) the quality marque ones such as Mercedes and BMW.
