"The Ultimate Driving Machine" This is certainly the case here, BMW have yet again proven they are top dog with their superior engineering and elegant design. The subtle but meaningful M Power logo dotted around the car just reminds the driver of its pedigree breed, and racing heritage. Some may argue its styling is a little quirky and tasteless, and others will genuinely fall in love with it, but we all know beauty is only skin deep and the M-Coupé has more under the bonnet.
The 3.2 litre 24 valve powerhouse puts out a very impressive 321BHP and with 258lb/ft of torque with its twin vanos system, this engine certainly has ample power for even the most enthusiastic driver. Once over 4000RPM the engine really starts to sing and come to life, the whole car takes on a different attitude and eagerly awaits a good thrashing. The ride is comfortable and forgiving but requires precise and well thought input to keep it on the road under heavy acceleration, the Dynamic Stability Control helps but once off, it really deserves full attention.
Driving around town isn't difficult but some people might find the clutch a little heavy, with its 258 lb/ft of torque it rolls everywhere and you'll be hard pushed to stall it. Rides on the motorway are effortless and easy with little or no gear change needed at all. The brakes on the BMW M-Coupé are something you'll need to get used to, you might find them too powerful at first but it only requires the lightest of input to stop you. Fuel economy is surprisingly good for an engine of this size when driving sensibly, but this all goes out the window when you want to have some serious playtime.
There aren't any big issues the M-Coupé but its not perfect, like for example the positioning of the mirrors and minimal amount of rear view space. I'm not sure what happened to the BMW design team when it came to the mirrors, but they are very awkward and offer little viewing capability from behind. Another issue is the amount of passenger space, although BMW claim you can sit four people its probably safe to say your odds and ends will only find sufficient space in the rear, but who care's its a Coupe. Finally parts on any BMW M car are pricey and you tend to really pay for the exclusiveness of owning such a car, then actually paying for the goods them self. But fear not as BMW are renown for being reliable cars, and if well serviced and maintained can literally last a life time.
Overall, this car is brilliant and you'll soon find yourself smiling unknowingly as you realize you just exceeded the speed limit in less then 6 seconds. Although the majority of people will probably see it as a regular BMW, those who know of its true M colors will not put up a fuss. The price for a good used M-Coupé starts from about £12,000 some might be cheaper, but these cars are rare and will certainly be worth a penny or two in a few years time, much like the E30 M3. Also be aware that this is not a regular BMW and requires specialist attention from a BMW dealer, which can often be quite pricey. I would recommend this car to anyone who wants alot of fun for a reasonable price, but its a serious bit of kit and with anything as lethal as the M-Coupé, it requires a committed and experienced owner.

toxicreviewer, I understand what you mean with the steering, it does require a soft touch and well thought input like i said, i guess if you're used to driving something a little less refined, then driving an M-Coupe is probably a whole new ball game. I dont really agree with you about the brakes, perhaps it was poorly maintained but i assure you they are potent buggers. Also dissapointing to hear you binned the car!

I have had the opportunity to drive a Z3 M-Coupe a number of times and find the brakes to be rather unresponsive and the steering far too light for a vehicle carrying so much power. When travelling at excessive speed I like to know that the slightest touch will not send me veering off the motorway. Needless to say, I crashed it the third time I actually drove it!!
