It's now our local supermarket as it has just been turned into a Budgens store. There are other supermarkets in Okehampton but there's no point fighting through the traffic to get to them anymore. The shop sells pretty much everything you need and has just started selling alcohol too - which will be handy on xmas day !! The restaurant is still open as before - they do a lovely sunday roast, weekdays there seems to be a good variety of specials on the board. Nice atmosphere, local & friendly (not sure about the background music though!)

Quick review of BP Whitehouse Services, Devon
I am a regular visitor to Cornwall and Whitehouse Services on the A30 at Okehampton has been our stopping off point for the past 10 years.
The forecourt is nearly always busy, but to get fuel is easy due to the size and the amount of pumps. The shop is always fully stocked, clean and the staff are helpful, polite and a pleasant change from some other petrol stations i won't mention.
On site they have their own restaurant that offers a full menu of home cooking which caters for young and old alike.
Also provided along with plenty of car parking space is a large fenced off field offering a picnic area with wonderful views of Dartmoor and the surrounding countryside. ...

Quick review of BP Whitehouse Services, Devon
BP Whitehouse Services is situated just off the A30 at Okehampton. This is my local garage for Autogas (LPG). They have become very expensive the last time i filled up LPG was 65.9p a litre and they used to be 59.9p. I wrote to BP and complained about the price rise and they informed me that this garage is independent and they have no control over pricing. I now fill up in Exeter when possible as LPG is at least 4p a litre cheaper. Therefore when planing your trip fill up in Exeter and save yourself some money. The service station is good but expensive. ...

Advantages: 24 hour, easy to get to, plenty of parking Disadvantages: Expensive, very busy, can get trapped, cramped
When heading to Cornwall, from an early start, you may need to fill up before your destination, the place you are most likely to go to is here. Most of the LPG stations south of Bristol have limited opening hours and are also awkward to get to off the M5 or A30.
This one is easy to get to, but is not cheap, it was 5p a litre or so more than I normally pay.
The LPG pump is mixed in with the petrol pumps, and is on the penultimate row, the next one ... ...cramped, it can be difficult manouvering, I ended up partially blocking the site while filling up, it is also awkwards to manouver while towing.
Other facilites are a shop and a restaurant, there is also plenty of parking behind the restaurant in a field.
The toilets are limited and tend to get smelly.
Cards, cash and cheques are all accepted.
This is a station you have to use rather than want to use. ...
