BSM

~First things first~ I turned 17 in June this year and received a package of 6 hours of lessons from my mum for BSM. I thought to start with that this was great and that it would give me a real start with my driving. Little did I know that I would be wasting my money and being talked to ... Read review

44 Lessons - You're Kidding!

Advantages: You can get vouchers for lessons through tesco
Disadvantages: everything else you could possibly think of

...waste of money lessons with BSM are.

~The Simulator~
The package also included 2 hours on a BSM simulator in Aberdeen - about an hour and a half's drive from my hometown, Arbroath. I travelled through, feeling optimistic, but after my two hours, I felt I had learnt nothing and had wasted two hours of my life on a fruitless activity. The simulator began with slowly taking me through the controls of the car. It then made ...
...First Lesson~

BSM insisted that I have a two hour lesson to begin with because they would take me through a cock-pit drill etc. I was reluctant as I thought it would be a long and tiring lesson for a first time but agreed since they explained it would be the best way to start. My driving instructor (who I will refer to as John for annonymity) started off making a good impression by arriving five minutes before the start of my lesson. ... more

Bloody Super Motoring!

Advantages: Kind helpful staff. Excellent tuition from instructors who really know their stuff!
Disadvantages: The price can be steep!

...schools - i came across BSM and can deffinately say i haven't been disappointed yet (even if i have failed twice, grrr! my fault!) On my first lesson, my instructor picked me up from my house - on time (which is more than can be said for my previous instructor). He had been told that i had already had a few hours of driving lessons with a previous instructor. He drove me to a local quiet road, and there he explained all of the different features ...

Information on how your instructor and accomponying driver can help you. Also information on what to do after passing the practical test) ...

the customer deserves respect

Advantages: instructors capable, friendly and patient
Disadvantages: their admin/organisational/customer care skills are non-existant

I chose BSM because of their reputation, but having learnt with them for several months I can honestly wonder at their having any decent reputation at all. If I could choose again, I would never choose BSM but would use a small company or an independent instructor reccommended by a friend. The instructors are fine, the problem is with BSM's attitutude towards its paying customers. I needed to cancel an inconvenient lesson in early January, but because ...
...they would call me back. BSM appear to be incapable of phoning people back; it has never once happened in the months I've been dealing with them. Anyway, it took me weeks of calls to the local (Reading) office and to BSM's head office to get them to credit my account with this money. The office blamed the driving instructor, who (rightly) blamed the office and told me that I was one of many people having these kind of arguments with BSM. While I ...

Boosting Stressed-out Motorists

Advantages: Excellent tuition with a caring side
Disadvantages: Can be a bit pricey

...your own progress and with BSM they present you with a booklet that grades your abilities. The instructor ticks the little boxes from one to nine depending on your level of competency (one represents the kind of driving that should only be allowed at the arcades and nine asks the question, why are you still having lessons?), he also explains why you are graded as such. This is very encouraging and following each lesson, I feel a little less like ...
...flying colours. In conclusion, BSM have helped me not only learn a new skill, but also feel in control of something I seem to still have no control of. They are kind and understanding and I believe the price is most definitely a guarantee of quality. Thank you, BSM. ...

Advantages: Superb tuition and customer service - and covered by insurance included in the tuition fee!
Disadvantages: Its £23 a go - more expensive than many learner driver schools.

...Not bad. Still, BSM is a national company and you can be sure that they are at least insured and qualified if nothing else, a guarantee you may not be so comfortable about with some smaller firms. Its a good job too, as that insurance will sure be needed on the car I was driving. I have done my theory test and passed with flying colours (ok I didnt pass with such amazing flying colours but I did pass) and moved onto the road full of hope and promise. ...
...pressure. Thankfully the kind BSM instructor immediately announced that it was ok as the car was covered by insurance. Phew. She did go on to mention that I would be charged the £50 starting amount (to claim insurance you have to pay the first 'x' amount). I was relieved and waited with her while the car was picked up. She didnt once have a go at me although she did ask me to go through what I had done and point out my mistakes. Amazingly she even ...

Has been brilliant so far updated 3rd March

Advantages: Courtesy of staff, knowledge, good reputation, good cars
Disadvantages: Cost

...of staff from my local BSM centre phoned to ask how I got on with my test. Luckily I got 100% right, and this was partially thanks to the excellent BSM books I revised everything from. Courtesy of this company - first class! :) Having just turned 17 and now in a full-time job, I am desperate to be able to drive. I hate having one of those dads who ends up working for "Dad's Taxis" at all hours of the day and night! I only knew a few people who ...
...did pick up was that BSM have an excellent reputation, so I chose to have my lessons with them. On the BSM website, there is a facility where you can e-mail them direct to ask any questions (mine was just general costs for lessons) and then an adviser will call you back at a time which is convenient to you. I did this, and was pleased with the response. My adviser was very knowledgable and gave me all the answers I needed. Lessons are £18.50 an ...

Get your driving license with BSM!

Advantages: 10 driving lessons for £220 + 1st lesson for free! Professional tuition & no time wasting!
Disadvantages: Every Driving Instructor will want to get MORE £££ out of you no matter what Motoring Company you use

annoying thing was that he would have 10-15min loo stops during my driving lessons and he would finish my lessons prior the time in order to pick up another student. So I guess I end up loosing quite a lot of time and money as well. One day I went online searching for well known motoring schools and found BSM. I called them up and told them about my experience and current situation. They customer service was very good and they were very kind and patient with me. In less than a weeks time I got new instructor from BSM - a woman!! She tought me so much more in 1h time than the previous instructor - I was amazed!! My new driving instructor was very knowing and professional eventhough she was quite young and has been teaching how to drive for only 2 years! She was very polite and fun to talk to! I really liked her informal and friendly ...

BSM Instructor Fulham

Advantages: not sure
Disadvantages: at least one of the instructors uses a mobile phone while driving

Last Friday about 9am I was nearly hit by a potentially off duty BSM Driving Instructor using his mobile phone while driving. It was along by Fulham Broadway, he had wavy dirty blonde shortish hair. He had the phone he was using either to dial or text with at the bottom of his steering wheel so it could not obviously be seen by another car driver. This meant that he was looking down. He probably didn't notice me which is unsurprising and I didn't manage to get his numberplate I have tried contacting BSM for the correct procedure to complain, but have had no response to my emails so far. He should have been setting a better example. How other people are supposed to stop using theirs while driving if he can't then what hope do we have. ...

AMAZING

Advantages: The Teaching, Flexibility
Disadvantages: Cost

Possibly the most satisfying, fulfilling, enjoyable and productive learning experience I have ever had in my entire. No but seriously this school is by far the best, better than AA and BSM combined, because when you use BSM or AA you simply pay for the name of the company where as a school like Johnny?s you pay for the experience and professionalism that you know he posses. Definitely the best choice if you?re just starting to drive or are currently learning with another school and haven?t managed to pass, I would definitely recommend it over any other school of motoring. John is a great bloke and at the end of the day I ended up passing thanks to him, cheers mate couldn't have done it without you. ...
