I bought my mobile phone last november, after much research I opted for cellnet's Line advance package. This basically cost me £99.99 for one years line rental, connection to what is now the Talk 50 tarriff and a nice little panasonic phone.
I opted for cellnet due to the fact that we were going to rural north wales for the new year and wanted a phone that would actually work if we should breakdown on the way. I have had no problems what so ever with the phone, crystal clear calls in most places - even half way up Mount Snowden!!
When I first signed up the Talk 50 was actually a package that gave you £5 worth of calls a month, this was soon change to the 50 minutes worth of calls. I did notice once it was changed over that Text messages, were not included in my free allowance. One month I used about 10 minutes of calls but still got charged 10p for the 2 text messages, I'd made even though I still had loads of credit left for that month. One minor bug bear is you can not roll over unused minutes to the next month.
But on the whole I was rather satisfied with Cellnet, until I got a letter from them asking me to ring them regarding next years line rental, I was going to be charged another £99.99 for another year of the Line Advance package, but I wouldnt be getting a phone with it. I decided to cancel the agreement.
I rang the customer services number, to find that it was a confusing system of press this button for this or that but did not seem to have a button solely for cancelling agreements. I spent 20 minutes waiting to speak to a human voice, I eventually gave up and after a further 5 attempts on different days and time of day I got throw to a human voice, who then wanted to put me in a queue to talk to some one in accounts, I declined this kind offer to wait an estimated 8 minutes and I was told someone would ring me back within 72 hours! But at least I'd cancelled the agreement or so I thought!
Over the next week I recieved 3 calls to my voicemail box on my mobile and 2 to my answering machine at home, asking me to ring customer services on the main customer services number. I assummed it was regarding my cancellation of my contract with them but I wanted to make sure. I then spent varying lengths of time on hold, but I only managed to speak to a human voice the day the computers were down, so was unable to find out what they had been ringing me for.
With Bt customer services main number, it appears that they are always busy, as I tried to ring them on different days and at different times thinking that these times would not be busy times!
Eventually 3 weeks after I thought I had cancelled my agreement they rang me at home! The woman I spoke to was unaware that I'd actually cancelled my agreement with them! I was offered the initial £99.99 line in advance package which I declined, I was then offered a new phone as well as the package, I declined it. After talking to her supervisor I was offered the line in advance package for £89.99 and the phone, I declined it! Then finally I got the package for £69.99 plus a new phone! I have got my doubts as to whether I should have accepted it, but apart from this series of events I've not had a problem with Cellnet.
Cellnet is a decent network if you want crystal clear calls and a reliable signal, it falls down when you have to talk to customer services! With the profits they make you'd have thought they would have been able to invest some of it into providing a decent customer services department!
Deviant, when I bought my phone ALL the shops I went to informed me that vodaphone was naff in North Wales. One of the reasons I got a mobile was due to the long and very remote areas coverd in my journey to wales in December. Personally I think all mobile phone companies are rip off merchants.
well if you wanted coverage vodafone is the best, wouldnt personally touch cellent with a mobile telephone pole its just BT the rip off merchants innit
