Oh how I love BT. Rant, rant, you ain't seen nothing yet mate.

No I won't rant about it. A simple example of my experience.

I have a BT Connect for business account. Now, when I started I had a website hosted in the US for my 'consultancy business' (ie me) and I moved to BT Connect because they were cheaper and looked professional. Sure, I got my website loaded although the structure was a bit dodgy. Sure I had to change the names of all of my web files because of case sensitivity issues (the fault of the writers of UNIX not BT probably). But the service was slow and unreliable and, frankly, a bit pants.

Then I thought about adding a second website. So I asked their support. Yes, no problem they said. Second domain, same account, different sites, easy. So I bought a second domain and, guess what, it pointed at the first website and I wanted a separate one. So I asked for assistance. "Oh you can't do that" was the reply. Where DO BT send their engineers and technical people for rudeness training ? The place that British Rail used to use all those years ago ? Anyway. Some months and some compensation later . . . no joy.

So now I have found another host who can host all four of my websites (even BT couldn't stop me adding more sites) for £100. BT would charge me that for six months. The service at the new site is faster, if a bit brusque at times, but keen and professional (WWW.UKSHELLS.CO.UK if you are interested)

And their service has been down all weekend - a subscription based service I should add.

All that remains now is to transfer my domains. I asked two weeks ago and they are thinking about it. The latest excuse ? I didn't use the right email address to request transfer. Think about that for a minute . . .
