I joined BT Mobile in the fall of this year, attracted by their offer of a FREE Motorola V600 on a £19.99 per month tariff for 150 anytime minutes and 50 texts. Sounds good doesn't it?? I needed to port my number over to BT Mobile from T-mobile which it stated in the advert 'this can be done in 5-7 days. Well, this is where all the trouble started - read on! It took me THREE months to finally be able to contact someone to port over the number. I only managed this by complaining loads of times via e-mail to BT. You cannot get hold of anyone at the call centre to port your number over. If you are lucky enough to get someone, they will just pass the buck. The problems continued when BT started sending my bills charging me and EXTRA £10 per month and charging me for every text I sent, even though I was entitled to 50 free per month!! To cut a long story short, I must have phoned their call centre at least 25 times trying to resolve the issue. They have barred my phone 3 times now as I refused to pay the bills until they billed me the correct amounts. The staff at the call centre [based somewhere in Ireland I think] are absolutely not interested and are rude. The latest call to them resulted in me being asked, 'for Gods Sake what do you want us to do'! I immediately asked for a manger but was refused and the call was ended. Suffice to say, this was the final straw. I sent a final mail to the complaints department threatening to involve the Telecommunications Ombudsman - i recieved a reply within 10 minutes!!! The reply came from an independent company who BT have contracted to sort out their dire mobile phone service. The reply apologised and basically stated that I was well within my rights to cancel the contract (even though it has about 8 months to run). I have agreed to have the phone collected and the contract cancelled. They are also refunding all my money. To summarise; please, please, please, avoid BT Mobile. It will be the worst decision you will ever make if you join them! Stick with the 'proper' mobile providers (I am now switching back to Vodafone). The company has absolutely no idea what it is doing when it comes to mobiles. ( it rents the network space of T-Mobiles transmitters). It is not just me either, I can honestly say I know various people on this network and ALL have regretted joining BT. Does it not tell you something when they are contracting a Customer Service Specialist firm to take over their call centre?? AVOID PLEASE!! Me, well I'm just glad I escaped the contract, my friend's are not so lucky and are still stuck with theirs. Good Luck!
