Advantages: Good cheap fax machine Disadvantages: pricey ink cartridges
BT paper jet 150, 3 in 1 phone, fax and copier, I purchased my BT fax in March this year. It set me back £99 from a well known high st catalogue shop. As this is my first ever fax machine, I thought yes I?ll choose one that uses A4 paper as I have to buy that for my computer printer anyway. Next decision was inkjet cartridge or ink film. Well I didn?t know what the ink film was, and again because of my computer inkjet cartridge opted for that one. Also I buy replacement inkjet cartridges for my printer really cheap. So with all this in mind I chose my preferred fax machine.

Advantages: Small size - lots of features, reasonable manual Disadvantages: High cost of cartridges, small buttons with lots of functions. Handset cord too short.

The machine can't automatically detect an incoming fax if an extension phone on the same line is picked up first - annoying, leading to mad dashes to the fax machine to start it receiving manually.
Print quality is generally good - with no smudging when using BT Ink jet cartridges. There are lots of settings to take account of faint originals etc which work OK. Any smaller than A5 sized documents have to be loaded into a document carrier envelope before they can be faxed or copied.
Received faxes (or copies) are ejected to the front of the machine and either fall on the floor or get mangled if anything is left in front of the machine
Copy function is OK although quite slow.
Cost of replacement ink cartridges is astronomical - cost about £45 for two ink carts and a replacement printhead! They do however seem to last a long time - it ...

the slot where faxes are received. Colour-wise, it's a kind of grey/off-white colour - pretty unobtrusive, and not revolting to look at.
FAX MACHINE:
For something so compact, you'd expect the fax quality to be much worse than that of some of the machines currently available, but I don't believe that this is the case. The machine holds up to 40 sheets of paper (80gsm) comfortably, and can hold paper of different sizes, whether it be A4 or envelopes. As with most fax machines, this doubles up as a copier, and the print quality is fairly good, assuming you continue to use BT inkjet cartridges like the one provided. To ensure that you get no smudging, and that your faxes/copies are properly aligned, you can print out test pages before use, as you would with a standard printer. This is very easy to do, and well-detailed in the manual ...
