Purchased a few months ago for my wife who has around 60% loss of hearing and wears hearing aids.
This phone has been a great help to my wife. With variable volume control and extra amplification this is one of the best amplified phones she has tried.Ignoring the features and buttons, the volume is the real selling point. If wifey is using the phone she has the volume load enough for her to comfortably hear (which also means that people near wifey can also hear the conversation coming from the ear piece of the handset).
If you are a person who talks quietly, then this phone could also be for you. Not only can the incoming volume be turned up, so can the outgoing volume. This phone requires either an electric outlet to plug it into, or a set of 4 AA batteries, for the amplification to work. A set of 4 rechargeable batteries last us about a month of heavy use.
One thing to look for if you are not the person requiring amplification is whether or not the red led light on the amplification button is lit or not. If your hearing is not impaired you will need to turn the volume down until the led light goes out, or you will be shocked at the volume!
