Full review
Hello again

Here is my 3rd review, this time on a smoke detector that can be added to the VP1000 system……

As we are all encouraged to add smoke detectors to our homes it makes sense to add one that can link to your panel. This way if it is triggered in a remote part of your house you get the benefit of its own siren going off as well as the siren on the panel and the external MCS-700 siren if you have one ( If you have not seen my review on the MCS-700, take a look its a great add on to your system) to protect your home and family from fire.

The Optional wireless smoke detectors can be added at any time, and you can have as many as you like, well within the limits of the system, you can have up to 28 devices attached to the panel.

Now for the Technical stuff ..

The MCT-425 is a fully supervised wireless photoelectric smoke detector compatible with the BT VP1000 wireless system, designed for a wide range of residential and commercial applications.

Achieving superior smoke detection sensitivity levels, the MCT-425 provides early warning of developing fire. When smoke is detected, the MCT-425 issues both sound and transmitted alarms. To ensure secure communication, transmissions use a PowerCode™ 24-bit ID command code, which is selected from 16 million possible combinations and is therefore unique and virtually impossible to accidentally reproduce. A smart anti-collision algorithm prevents signal jamming by simultaneous transmissions from multiple devices

The MCT-425 transmits supervisory reports, including battery condition, to the wireless control panel or receiver at regular intervals - ensuring system integrity and functionality at all times.

The easily installed MCT-425 wireless smoke detector is available in various frequency bands
So you need to check when ordering that it's for the 868 MHz that is used by the VP1000

MCT-425 Features:
• Superior detection sensitivity.
• Sound and transmitted alerts (smoke, tamper, low battery).
• Fully supervised.
• PowerCode™ technology with anti-collision transmission algorithm.
• Long-life 9 Volt alkaline or lithium battery.
• Simple ceiling-mount installation with no mess.
• Easy programming and user-friendly control.
• Attractive modern design suitable for residential applications.

Fitting is really easy, and has detailed instructions.
You will find there are 2 different boxes on the market for the same thing.
The first is in a BT box with fitting instructions, the second is in a Visonic box, this has 2 sets of instructions, 1 for connecting to their PowerMax panel and the second for fitting to the VP1000. They are the same unit, just boxed for BT.
My second smoke detector arrived as Visonic boxed one with no instructions for the BT panel, but as it looked the same I just used the instructions from my original BT unit. When I decided to add another unit again it came as a Visonic boxed unit but they had included the BT information so obviously they had been asked for it by others.
The 9 Volt battery in the unit has lasted 11 months so far and still tests ok, so not sure how much longer it will last but not bad so far !!

One Last point, thanks to the feedback from Ricard...

The smoke detector will function in a stand alone mode, so if the main VP1000 pannel failed the smoke detector would still function with it own internal siren.

I have had and fitted 3 different alarm panels to my house on the past 16 years, 1 hard wired, 1 wireless system and now the BT system. This is by far the best one I have fitted, both for ease of fitting and use and with a good selection of add-ons, which I have most of them now and will give you some feed back on them shortly.
I hope you find this information of use.
Barry
