I'm pretty certain with 160 ops already up, that the pros and cons of using BT have been discussed in extreme detail. So I'm just going to share with you one good feature of the service.

Now, BT is not the cheapest telecom company, but it is the biggest and most compatible. Trying to save money by switching company or using prefix numbers is a hassle, and usually results in two seperate bills.

Not Friends and Family. I'm sure that you have all heard of this, but just how many of you take advantage of it? I didn't until a couple of days ago, when I decided to try it out, encouraged by the 0800 number that you ring.

I was extremely suprised - an automated service that works. I was done in a couple of minutes, and the numbers were read back to me, so I knew that it had worked.

You can list up to 15 numbers (5 of which have to be international - ie max 10 national/local). This can include a mobile number. On all of these numbers, you save an automatic 10% of calls.

In addition, you can nominate one number as a 'best friend' number, and get an extra 10% discount.

So, even if you are lazy, or prefer to stay with the biggest player in the phone market, you can still get a fair discount on your most called numbers.

Just a correction: You can list up to 10 numbers (6 of which can be international - ie max 10 national/local/international). This can include a mobile number. On all of these numbers, you save an automatic 10% of calls.

I'm with NTL as I have the full package. they now have a 24/7 free local and national tariff which only costs another £15.50 pm. The only thing is, it doesn't include mobiles.
