After having problems with my telephone / broadband / television provider i decided it was time for a change.
I had been with with BT before when i first moved into my house and basically I just had a landline then and later added BT Broadband. My television service was from sky, the invoices that i was receiving at that particular time were equating to over £100 a month, thats why i left initially.
I received some literature in the post from BT advising of their new phone, broadband and television package which was all for a flat fee of £30 per month and if i subscribed during the month they would give me a free BT Homehub which i thought was a fantastic deal so my first thought was to get it changed as soon as possible.
It advised on the literature to take advantage of the offer please ring a certain 0880 number which i did. I was on hold for 10 minutes before i actually got through and once i got through i went through the motions of advising that i wanted to come back and she took all my details from me to get it set up. I was then advised that i was talking to an operator who just dealt with the telephone line and that I had to go through every department seperately to get everything set up.
I held my breath and was told that my phone line would be active within 48 hours, once this was done I would be needed to call another department to set up the broadband.
48 hours later i called the broadband line, i was told to go back to my current supplier and obtain a MAC code whatever that is to get broadband set up. The landline was not live and they give me another live date of 4 weeks later for it to switch over... therefore i felt deceived in signing up again.
I also mentioned about the free home hub and i was advised again that i was not entitled to this because i had not taken the broadband and TV initially, when i stated that i had been told that i had to go through seperate departments and wait 48 hours they were not interested in what i had got to say justthat i wouldn't get it.
Telephone service providers annoy me enough to start with and when i got a call from my current provider offring me a better deal i had to take it because the customer service at BT is absolutely attrocious and i don't think they know what deals they have on offer and what they should be selling.
Now i am still with my original provider and although i did have a bad experience they have got everything sorted for me and i have an excellent package that is available for 12 months.
Whatever you do, don't rely on everything that BT has to say to you... they don't know themselves.

Review of BT
Advantages: Lots of other services, friendly service, cost saving features (such as BT answer 1571), fairly cheap (especially if you qualify for half price installation, due to BT surftogether pakage), easy to contact. Disadvantages: I haven't come across any yet.
