BUSlink L Series Hard drive 30 GB

...I have just recently bought the Dimension system having also purchased an Inspiron 3800 laptop (also reviewd in ciao). I bought it in October 2000. This PC is fast and has excellent features - I got the DVD drive and the CD R/W plus high memory capacity 319mb Ram and 38 GB hard disc. It only cost me £1400 and is extremely good value. I find it is very easy to use and I have had absolutely no problems with the equipment whatsoever. I have no hesitation in recommending it.... Read review

Advantages: Speed, capacity, made by IBM!

...IBM is a name that most people associate with Servers, or with desktop PC systems, but they are also one of the worlds biggest hard drive manufacurers. The Latest series of drives to roll off Big Blue's production line is the Deskstar 75GXP. Available in 15, 30, 45, 60, and 75 gigabytes capacity, these drives all share in common a 7200rpm spindle speed, 2mb cache, and UDMA100 transfer speeds. These features all make for a drive that rivals a much more expensive SCSI drive in performance, but for a fraciton of the cost. I have 2 of the 75GXP 30gb drives in my AMD Athlon system as we speak, and they're set up in a RAID array. The upshot of all the jargon is that the 2 drives act as one big drive, and effectively double the already impressive performance! ...If you are looking for a fast 30GB hard drive then this is one of the fastest there is. It has UDMA66 support, although now if you can afford it you might as well get one that can support UDMA100. This disk has a high transfer rate and low access time. For the cost this is an extremely good drive. My only gripe with it is there is nothing on the drive outer to show the jumper settings. A small leaflet is supplied with the drive, but if you mislay that it is guess work to decide what jumper to set to make the drive master or slave.... Read review
