...I have just recently bought the Dimension system having also purchased an Inspiron 3800 laptop (also reviewd in ciao). I bought it in October 2000. This PC is fast and has excellent features - I got the DVD drive and the CD R/W plus high memory capacity 319mb Ram and 38 GB hard disc. It only cost me £1400 and is extremely good value. I find it is very easy to use and I have had absolutely no problems with the equipment whatsoever. I have no hesitation in recommending it.... Read review

If you're one of them, then this is to your advantage, otherwise you will have more than enough. With the new Bios update, you can now run Crossfire cards. That is when you have 2 identical ATI video cards and you run both for games. This increases the processing power by 40 to 60%. This is an interesting option for gamers who want to add to their gaming experience without necessarily buying a whole new graphic card. ...The Gigabyte GA-7VT880 is indubitably the fastest socket-A platform still available on the market. It was designed for Athlons mainly, but Semprons work with just as efficiently. It supports 400 MHz DDR-SDRAM sticks; with two identical 256 MB sticks working in Dual Channel, Windows XP runs smoothly with all the visual effects on. Since it is not a 64-bit platform, executing a large amount of applications at once can cause the system to freeze, but that is quite obvious anyway. The motherboard works very efficiently with IDE and SATA hard drives - copying 4.7 gigabytes from one drive to the other takes no more than 8 minutes - that is about 10 MB per second.
