Advantages: Hydronic Stove, Thermostat controlled, Optiflame Log Effect, Up To 4Kw Heat Output Disadvantages: None
...The Dimplex Hydronic Stove MIR40 is a stylish flame effect fire place. A friend had this fitted in last year and it looks really good. This fireplace is a modern freestanding electric stove with hydronic heat exchanger.
The actual fireplace should be professionally fitted, in my friends case the place he bought it from included free fitting so that was ideal. The good thing about this fireplace is that there's no need to knock out your fireplace to fit this in. This electric fire requires a 13amp socket to plug into when installing it and the heat is provided by a fanheater and hydronic heat exchanger. The maximum heat output (electric fan) high 2Kw and 2Kw hydronic heat exchanger makes a total of 4Kw overall heat output.
Main features:
- Hydronic Stove, uses conventional wet central heating technology combined with electric fan...

Advantages: Heats quickly, 2 heat settings, cheap Disadvantages: None, though I have been told they are not very energy efficient
...to get installed) so it is fairly warm, unless the temperatures really drop.
My bedroom however, is a totally different story. For some reason the temperatures in there seem to drop to about minus 5, possibly because I am at the back in a fairly shaded area so the sun doesn't make it round there in winter, though in summer it gets frazzled in the heat.
For the last few years I have had fanheaters in my room as I like the fact you get instant heat blowing out. The only problem is that fanheaters aren't the greatest at heating an entire room and they aren't very long lasting; mine lasted about 1 1/2 winters before completely packing up.
This brings me to the GREATEST HEATER EVER MADE!
Yes folks, the greatest!
I popped down to Argos, well sent the flatmate anyway, where she picked me up a little 2kw Dimplex convector heater...

Advantages: Works well, looks neat Disadvantages: It would use too much power to be in permanent use
.... It stands about an inch or so off the floor and the heater itself is about four or five inches deep. It is only about a foot or so across in either direction so it looks very neat and doesn't take up much room.
The instruction booklet is written on both sides of a piece of A4 paper and is easy to read and understand.
There are two controls on the top together with the vent through which the air is blown.
The first control has four settings which are as follows:
O the heater is switched off completely - pretty self explanatory I think!
X cool blow - the fan will operate using unheated air. This is ideal for circulating cool air on a hot day.
1 the heater will provide 1KW of heat - for times when you need a lower heat setting.
2 the heater will provide 2KW of heat - for times when you need the higher heat setting.
The second control...
