...The Dimplex Hydronic Stove MIR40 is a stylish flame effect fire place. A friend had this fitted in last year and it looks really good. This fireplace is a modern freestanding electric stove with hydronic heat exchanger. The actual fireplace should be professionally fitted, in my friends case the place he bought it from included free fitting so that was ideal. The good thing about this fireplace is that there's no need to knock out your fireplace to fit this in. This electric fire requires a 13amp socket to plug into when installing it and the heat is provided by a fan heater and hydronic heat exchanger. The maximum heat output (electric fan) high 2Kw and 2Kw hydronic heat exchanger makes a total of 4Kw overall heat output. ...I recently purchased this fan heater because A) It was the cheapest one(argos) and B)I was going on holiday in a caravan with no heating in the middle of march! Anyway on with the review, this upright fan heater has two heat settings : High and Low, it also has a cool blow facility for those warm days. It also comes with a built in thermostat so you can select the temperature you want via a seperate control and when the desired temperature is reached it will turn off and when the temperature drops it turns back on to heat the room up again. Very clever for only £8.95 well I paid £10.44 as i paid an extra £1.49 for three years insurance. We took it on holiday with us to Cala Gran Caravan Park and it heated the whole caravan within half an hour of it being on, however when it was really cold on a morning it used to rattle and vibrate... ...I bought this heater because my bedroom has two outside walls and as it's a downstairs extension one of those 'walls' is a patio door and so, especially in the winter I needed some extra warmth in my room. I went out and after looking around at a few different heaters I eventually decided on the Nikkai Electric heater. There were three reasons for my choice: 1. Id had the rectangular shaped heaters and found that although they did effectively heat up the room it took a while for you to get the full benefit of the heater, I hoped that this fan heater would be quicker at heating up the room. 2. There were two different heat settings: 350W and 700W. These would allow me to adjust the amount of heat I wanted from it depending on the weather, how long wed had the central heating on etc 3.
