Advantages Advantages Looks good, cheap, easy to apply

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None

We moved into our current house about 18 months ago and are still working our way through it having each room decorated. The house is over 100 years old and, as such, has very high ceilings so we usually have to get a local decorator in to do the painting and wall papering for us. However, the rooms in the loft are a different matter altogether, in fact at full stretch I can almost reach the ceiling without standing on anything other than the floor! So we decided that we would decorate the rooms up there ourselves and save some cash. We did the study as soon as we moved in so that the ... more

    Advantages Advantages Good cheap paint

Disadvantages Disadvantages I do not really like D I Y

I sit here at my computer and look up at the ceiling. I see a white ceiling it is a papered ceiling, painted over with B &Q white silk finish emulsion. Most of the other ceilings in our house are also painted in this white paint. You may say a white painted ceiling is boring why not add some colour we did consider this, but I like a light bright room and white reflects the light makes a room look larger than if it is painted a colour. The walls are coloured anyway. Why did I choose b &q paint? Well I have B&Q close to work its easy to call in after work so there is the convenience of buying at ... more

Advantages Advantages It washes out of your clothes and is very cheap

Disadvantages Disadvantages It took 2 coats to get rid of darker backgrounds

I bought this white emulsion paint about two an a half weeks ago, to cover my son's bedroom with. He has white wallpaper up in his room that had got a bit dirty so I thought I might as well paint over it, it saves time on stripping the wallpaper and putting new wallpaper up, (This was probably the lazy way out, but who likes putting up wallpaper?). My son, being awkward didn’t want this because he didn’t like his white wall, but it was very cheap at only £ 5.48. This is a lot cheaper than the coloured emulsion paint. After the paint had dried on the walls it had left an excellent matt finish ... more

Advantages Advantages DRYS QUICK AND KEEPS ITS COLOUR

Disadvantages Disadvantages I hate applying emulsion, very messy

I had been meaning to decorate for a while but had been avoiding doing so because i hate having to paint sealings as i always get paint every where dripping on the floor. Keep in mind that when painting with white emulsion it will stain your carpit so make sure you put news paper down covering the whole work area. This will help you to succed in where i failed ! When i finaly motivated myself to goto B&Q i picked up a tray of this emulsion which contained about 5 liters, but different quantitys where avalible. (I only had to do the hallway). It was inexpensive and cost me less than £10. Be ... more

    Advantages Advantages cheap to buy

Disadvantages Disadvantages takes more than a couple of coats to give good coverage

I have painted the majority of my ceilings using this paint as well as several interior walls. It comes in a variety of sizes in plastic resealable tubs for easy storage after usage. The paint is much cheaper than leading brands and is also competitive with other diy store brands in terms of its price. The large tub is the best value for money overall and will provide coverage for several rooms at a time. In my experience it has taken between two and three coats to get adequate coverage on my celings to freshen them up. The paint is not the worlds thickest but it is good enough to serve its ... more
