I found out about these speakers after they stopped making them and had only ever heard rumours or seen pictures of the silver versions. I was thinking about the replacement XT8's but you cannot see the lovely aluminium from the front of the new ones and they are £1,200 more. The silver versions are amongst the best speakers I have ever experienced. The clean retro lines and curves, the bold yellow paper-kevlar mid cone and unlike many others they are quite discrete yet powerful, these are some of the most beautiful speakers I have ever seen. The foot print and look were some of the most important factors in my decision to purchase followed by the quality and reputation B&W manage to maintain. Without the metal feet the base seems smaller and could be knocked over, watch out for parties. Although slim there are 2 bass cones which work in unison so if you have tone control they handle the bass well combined with the cone loaded tweeter derived from the Nautilus and the paper-kevlar mid cone the treble and mid range are well balanced. These are perfect for music and film in a style-conscious setting. They are not bi-wirable, they are heavy and there were stories about flaws in the manufacture of the cases, my versions seem to be a victim but it isn't noticeable from viewing distance.
