I was given a hairdryer when I was about 14 by my aunt as a Christmas gift and have used it on and off ever since, as I am now 28 it was well past it and couldn't be used on the hottest setting anymore as it was too hot, that hot it hurt! As I blow-dry my hair more than I used to I decided it was time for it to be replaced, not before time either.
I do a few survey sites and as I could have Argos vouchers as rewards for doing the surveys sent to me I got a few and looked for my replacement, I was spoilt for choice and decided on this model. The write up made it sound really good and the thought of it being a dryer that was quick made me opt for it as I am not the type of person that wants to spend ages on my hair so the quicker it gets dry the better.
I reserved my choice and went down and bought my new time saver.
The box it came in was nice enough, well designed and now long gone so I can't tell you much about it.
The dryer is chocolate brown with chrome parts to make it look fancy. I didn't go for it because of the way it looks but if you are the type to opt for something because of looks then this will not disappoint you at all as it does look very modern and stylish.
It
weighs in at 0.527kg. so it isn't overly heavy which is a good thing as it can be rather a pain holding and working with a heavy hairdryer.
It comes with an ultra slimconcentrator nozzle, which means that the blast of air is more concentrated so dries that section of hair more quickly, this is especially useful if you are drying your hair with a brush.
The reason I chose this was because the write up says "Advanced high torque motor gives 2x the air pressure of an ordinary dryer for fast drying." I can honestly say that I find this super fast at drying and even though my hair is very thick it is soon dry when I use this and compared to my old dryer the time it takes is more than halved! In just a few minutes my hair is dry.
I didn't really know what I was looking for when I started looking for which model to buy, I just thought that I would opt for a model with a decent motor, this one is 2000w, after more comparing I noticed they all were, so it must be the standard motor size. That didn't really help me pick did it.
Ionic technology seems to be the in thing at the moment, I don't really know what it is and so didn't take all that much notice but apparently it helps keep frizz to a minimum and improves shine. This model apparently is ionic and my hair does seem shiny after using it, even before I use my GHD's.
Heat balancing tourmaline-ceramic technology? Again, what? Anyway that is what it has! I can't explain what baffles me I am afraid!
When looking for which to buy I wanted to make sure that I had a few heat and speed settings as I don't tend to like it too hot and a I find it easier to blast my hair till it is almost dry then do the styling on a slower setting so that I have more control over what I am doing. This model has three heat settings marked on the dryer as I II and III.
III is very hot, if I use this setting I can't keep it in one place as it is too hot for me. This is a great setting for drying hair very fast so I sometimes use it on the ends or just as a quick constantly moving blast all over. I is a very comfortable temperature and is the main one I use. II is as you would expect the middle ground between the two. For me the temperature settings could have been better thought out and I should have been a bit lower than it is.
There is a cool shot, not cold as I was expecting but just a bit cooler. This is in the form of a button on the handle in a good position for ease of use while you are using the hairdryer, which is a good thing considering the fact that you have to constantly hold it down to get the cool shot! This was not a good idea when they designed it as it makes more work than is necessary. A button that needed pressing once to put in on the once to turn it back off would have been a much better idea.
There are two speed settings, fast and slow. Don't really need to explain that for you do I. They are fine and I have nothing to complain about or even comment on really.
My old dryer had a fixed cord and this has a swivel one, how did I live without it? It really does make things an awful lot easier! There is no worrying about which direction I turn the dryer in and getting tangled up so it takes away having to think about that. I will certainly always want this feature in future.
The rear filter is hinged, I don't find that cleaning the filter is very necessary maybe a quick wipe every so often and all the hinge means is that there is no chance of losing the end or having to fiddle about getting it back on and it just clicks shut.
I paid 19.99 for this dryer well I say that but it didn't really cost me anything as it was vouchers. I think that was a reasonable price to pay as it is a good dryer and has made my life easier.
I can't see this one lasting as long as my previous dryer but that is because nothing tends to last as long as it used to. Would I still opt for this model if I had the chance over again, yes I probably would as I cant see what else I could ask for.
BaByliss is a well known brand and is one that I would tend to trust, they have been around for a long time so should know their stuff by now!
Do I recommend, yes, if you are looking for a new dryer then certainly consider this as an option.

My mum's old hair dryer lasted about 20 years - it was already over 10 when she started to use it on me - she used to bang my head with it, the heat was terrible, and she used to turn it round and it used to suck in my hair and leave me with split ends....it was awful.....those were the days!
