The no trip stair gate is exactly that! Because of its hinged (rather than pressure mounted) fittings the gate is raised off the ground with no need for a section to step over. The No Trip fits doorways/openings from 72-78.5cm. Available in Beechwood or White metal.
Advantages: Makes any space safe and has endless uses Disadvantages: Only for the rich…needs plenty of space
...but really only suitable for larger openings. Not suitable as a straight wall to wall gate. To use as a safety gate you need to use 3 panels in a half hexagon shape and then place at the top of stairs or use more panels if need to place around bottom or stairs if you have large sweeping staircases etc. If you have the conventional staircase then you will be better off buying a conventional stairgate.

The User Guide also states that additional panels may be purchased from your supplier.

Advantages: Easy to instal, easy to fold and pack away. Disadvantages: Is more like a barrier tan a gate.
...I needed something to put at my back door, to keep my very mobile, and inquisitive 1 year old in. I must admit that I was facing severe difficulties with this as the back door is small.
The only gates that seemed to be small enough seemed to be those that are permanently fitted, Obviously this wasn't an option, as it would mean always leaving the door open, or literally unscrew the fittings on the frame every night, and put them back in the morning.
Then I came across these travel gates. They seemed perfect, and they could be extended not only to fit my small door, but if needed larger areas both inside and outside.
I purchased this particular gate from Argos for £24.99, although it was advertised as a Lindam gate, I didn't realise until I came home that this was a BabyDan product.

...from. You can get: Pressure Fitting StairGates; Screw Fitting StairGates; Auto Close OR Auto Shut babyGate; Extra Tall BabyGates; Unique Space StairGate and Safety Gates to fit Diagonal Openings. That's just six to be getting on with for the moment, there are loads more.
So how do you decide what you want? Well firstly you need to measure the width of your stairs - BOTH top and bottom, as the top of our stairs is narrower than the bottom. So that caused an issue as I wanted matching stairsgates and all the ones we had seen so far on-line came in the standard width (75-82cm) with the ability to extend the gates if required. Nothing to make them narrower!
Whilst surfing we came across www.safetots.co.uk and bingo they had the gates for us. Pressure fitted gates, which means you don't need to drill holes in your walls. So if you have...
