The big sponge

Advantages: Easy to use, inexpensive
Disadvantages: Needs to be rinsed after each use

...ours from Mothercare for about £7.00, I am not sure if they are available elsewhere. The only downside is that the sponge needs to be rinsed clear of any soap suds and left to air dry after each use. A really simple idea but a truly useful product. ...

Hands free bathing

Advantages: Safe hands free bathing, washable cover
Disadvantages: None

Being a first time mum I was petrified of bathing my son. He was so tiny I just didn't understand how you could hold a baby AND wash them at the same time. It took my husband and I to bath him, a bit like a tag team. This made it very difficult if my husband was working late, as we would have to wait till my husband came home to bath him. My brother had had a baby a few months before us and while we were talking he suggested I get the fabric bath ...
...has ever given me. We bought one the following day and although we bathed him together that night, it meant I could then do it on my own or even better, my husband could bath him while I had some time to myself. My son enjoyed lying on the comfortable terry towelling material, also liking the fact his head was slightly raised. The cover comes off and can go in the washing machine. The metal frame is very sturdy and gives the parent assurance that ...

mothercare tilly and thomas room thermometer

Advantages: Enables you to tell the temperature of the babys room
Disadvantages: a little expensive

...didn't seem available. So since Mothercare had what I needed then I did'nt mind paying that bit more than I normally would. It was a god send and stopped me getting as anxious about our little one! This thermometer is the kind that you stick on the wall, it was a tiny square about 16cm's square, it had a nice little cat and dog on it. It had helpful sections like too hot, too cold and just right. The negatives are that it was about £4.00 pound approx, ...
...with a stuck on thermometer like the ones you put on a babies head to check their temperature, that's why I felt it was a bit expensive. You couldn't put it elsewhere apart from the wall as it wasn't strong enough to support itself. The other problem I foresee is that I haven't seen this particular one for sale anymore but there are others very similar just with different designs, availiable at mothercare, hope this helps. Kind regards Heidi. ...

...the posseting gathers) with anything else. Sorry not totally sure how much they are .. but if memory serves (and usually it doesnt !) they are roughly £2.50, and come in a very light purply packaging. Look in the bath accessories section on mothercare by the bath thermometers :-) ...

Wrap yourself in a cuddle!

Advantages: soft, durable, useful
Disadvantages: name misleading!

Cuddle robes are now an essential part of the bathing routine for my baby. When she was born we bought a pack and now we can't do without them. They have come in more than handy and we have found that when we are away and use 'normal' towels we really miss these little robes. These towels come in a pack of three and are neutral pastel colours. I would say they are probably more geared towards boys than girls with a blue one being in the pack but ...
...afterall baby Hope is always cuddled up in her blue cuddle robe and it doesn't bother us at all. So if you were to buy these as a present for someone I think they are suitable for both girls and boys. They are basically towels which have a hood integrated into one of the sides. This hood is a 'one size fits all' so that it doesn't really matter how big or small your baby is or how fast they grow. This hood works as an extra part to the towel for ...
