Fiddly to use
Advantages: Lots of different positions Disadvantages: Very fiddly to use
I found this sling whilst browsing in Mothercare. I liked the idea of being able to have my baby close to me so bought it. Unfortunately, I couldnt seem to get the position right for my son when he was young. He hated the lying down positions and always seemed very squashed. I initially gave up on the sling but came back to it when he was a bit older (around 2-3 months) and had more neck control. By then he could try out a different position where ... ...see what was going in. This seemed to work although he would only stay like that for short periods. I, however, never felt entirely safe. I am still unsure whether it was because I didnt have him in correctly or what but I always felt I stil had to have my arms around him which in a way defeated the purpose. I would say that this is a fiddly sling to use with lots of different positions and I didint find it easy to adjust it for me then for my husband. ...

BushBaby Cocoon baby Carrier
Advantages: Comfortable, easy to use, adjustable, versitile Disadvantages: none
When my son was born we were keen to carry him, we bought at omy rodeo freestyle carrier and hates it. It was hard to use, uncomfortable and didn't feel secure. So, when dd was born after much research we bought a bushbaby cocoon. In a word it is fantastic. Both myself and my husband suffer from sciatica and bad backs and we could carry our daughter with ease and comfortably. It wasa life saver indoors and out doors. If you have a cling or colicky ... ...so you're hands free and they feel secure. When out and about it's so much easier then lugging a buggy everywhere especially if you rely on public transport. We had a tandem buggy for our children and quickly found it much easier to put our toddler in a buggy and our baby in the bushbaby. We could walk for miles with her in that and we successfully carried her in it until she was ten months old. We only stopped because we switched to a mei-tai sling.

Carrying in comfort and style
Advantages: closeness, hands free Disadvantages: hugs chin when facing outwards
...month's use out of. The Tomy Freestyle carrier had a large, padded velcro strap around the waist and back as well as an adjustable clip, very thick shoulder straps, and velcro around the baby's legs as well as a plastic clip so that he's safe in there but can be taken out easily. My decision was made, and I paid my £24.99 to the cashier happily.
With a little practice I was able to slip the carrier over my head whilst holding the baby, get him into ... ...time again I'd buy a Tomy Freestyle carrier straight away, it's certainly worth the money.
So in short,
Pros: - One person only needed
- Neutral colour - Easy to get baby in and out
- Sturdy and safe thick material two fastenings - Adjustable leg holes and shoulder straps grow with the baby, waist band can shrink with your baby bump!
- Can go hands free when needed
- Saves on space
- Closeness
- No carrying buggies up and down the stairs

Premaxx Baby Sling
Advantages: Free hands for mum! Disadvantages: Strap can dig in to your shoulder
...liked the sound of the Premaxx baby sling. Probably mainly because I'm a sucker for European design & the Premaxx sling does look really funky! I chose the 'Sporty' version - I think perhaps it's now discontinued - the only place I could find it was on Amazon through a private seller. It's a really bright turquoise, with 3 zip pockets dotted along the strap, which I thought would be really useful for storage (small items such as keys, phone). When ... ...with just an 8lb baby in it, the strap dug in my shoulder. I found it best to wear something thick underneath, such as a dressing gown or jumper. Perhaps my husband would have found it easier, but he's never actually tried it. My son did seem quite happy & content in the sling - he was soon fast asleep, which is a blessing in those early weeks! When baby gets to the sitting stage, the sling can be turned around with baby sat up in it, balanced on ...

Not so safe Clippasafe harness
Advantages: None Disadvantages: Poor design, breaks easily
...I can not dispute that Clippasafe have produced a quantity of quality safety goods for young children and babies. But when it comes to these I would strongly avoid them and go for something made with stronger materials, such as leather with metal catches.
I can not comment on how these perform when it comes to using these for walking a toddler. All I can say is that a child will tug and pull you into every direction but the one you want to go, so ...
