I have been a fan of Gap since I as a teenager in the 80's and the Preppy look was in fashion. The quality of the clothes is outstanding and I've got jeans that are 10 years old and still look fantastic. So when I was expecting my first child, it was Babygap I thought of first to start a wardrobe.
I had the advantage of knowing the sex of our baby so I began buying up all the adorable girlie things I could. The newborn range is wonderful and ranges from preemie up to 1 year old. the fabrics are the softest cottons and velours with satin tags so they wont irritate sensetive skin. They always have gender neutral choices too if you don't know what your expecting. You may also select from a range of prepacked layette gift sets that range in price from 10-100 pounds/dollars depending on your budget.
My number one favourite item is the denim overalls. They are made of the same durable denim as the adult jeans and range in sizes from 3-6 months up to 4 years old. Sizes small to 2xl will have poppers or snaps along the inside legs to make nappy changes easier and less messy, but ages 3 and up do not to accomodate the potty trained child. Overalls last the longest of all clothing items for babies because as your child grows you can adjust the length to match. The denim is strong and durable and will outlast a crawler and toddler without looking raggety or getting holes.
Second favourite item are the triple roll socks. Now, going on about socks may seem lame but these are the BEST socks you can buy. They're 100% cotton with an elasticated tube that can be pulled up to the knee or folded or rolled down to the ankle. The elastic is not constricting but will definately keep the socks up and in many cases on, unless you have a particularly determined child. For child safety they have rubber grips on the soles to help your toddler keep stable when running about. They come in four basic colours: red, navy, white and gray and a wide selection of fashion colours that will coordinate with the current collection. You can buy them at four pairs for 8 pounds but can get them at bargain prices in the sales, best price .49 pence a pair if you can fight the crowds to grab a few.
The Gap sales are by far the best and it's not uncommon to get items at up to 90% off or at cost and as the Gap chaanges collections every 6-8 weeks, there's always something on sale. The returns policy is also very fair, if you keep your receipt you can bring it back anytime but if you dont you will get store credit instead of cash. they are also very understanding about returning faulty garments. The staff are always happy to answer questions and provide information about the garments without the hard sell or bullying to make a purchase (This is my eperience of local shops in Einburgh and in Massachusetts).
If you are interested in having a relaxed and enjoyable customer experience then Babygap is the place. They keep your attention with new and exciting fashion collections and encourage loyalty with a range of classic items available all year round. You can also view the collections on their website www.gap.com, unfortunately they do not ship outside the U.S.A., but you can find what you like online and order it from your local store who will ship your order direct.
The size range...

...it is reduced and the baby hasn't worn it yet, you can niftily return it and buy it back!!!
As for quality, I am really impressed with the quality of their clothes. They wash time and time again and come out looking brand new.
The one disappointment with them I had though was that their socks tend to 'bobble', but otherwise from that they are the best socks I ever tried as they stay on the baby's feet, and as most parents will know, this is no ... ...but i would say their boy's clothes are a lot better than the girl's wear, which is fine by me as I have a son!!!
Baby Gap is by far my favorite baby clothes shop despite the price of some of the garments and I would unhesistatingly recommend it. ...

Advantages: great clothes, great staff Disadvantages: prices??
I just LOVE baby gap. It is such a wonderful store. The clothes is wonderful the kids looks comfy in them and (big test) they stand washing over and over again. I have a dirt magnet daughter so her clothes goes through a lot, but her Gap clothes is always nice looking and can deal with getting stains on them without getting stuck permanently. My second daughter is now wearing stuff that the oldest wore first and I often get asked where it is from ... ...been in a LOT of baby Gap shops (I cant walk past one without having a look) and I have never once had a complaint about the service. It is always polite and helpful. Even if you are returning items. (like unwanted gifts) they are ever so helpful and nice. And they always check if you need the stuff gift wrapped and do this without extra charge.. Oh and if it is a gift they will make a gift receipt so the person who gets it can take it back but on ...

Advantages: Excellent quality and customer service Disadvantages: Expensive for the length of time the clothes will be worn
...a fleece hooded top and baby joggers, both of which were in size 6-12 months. My son has been wearing both items since he was four months old and thanks to sturdy ribs on the sleeves of the top and ankles of the joggers has been able to get away with it without looking swamped. Both items have washed brilliantly and if it wasn't for the price (£20.00 for the top and £10.00 for the joggers) I would probably shop there more often but for clothes with ...

Advantages: Good Name Brand - wash amazingly well Disadvantages: Sweat-shop produced, limited choice, over-priced
I have several GAP items in my 18 month son's wardrobe.
These items always wash well and right up until they go onto the 'grown out of' pile they always look as good as new.
However, recently I watched a television programme about 'Sweat-Shops' in the third world and the main culprit was GAP which uses Indonesian workers to make all of their garments, for adults and children. It has left me with a bit of a bitter taste in my mouth. GAP pay PENNIES ... ...the earth for the same items.
I also find the choice is somewhat limited - you can buy a pair of socks in every colour of the rainbow, but are limited to a choice of two or three types of shoe.
I think it is time GAP reviewed their manufacturing process to be more in line with the prices they charge. ...

Advantages: excellent choice, bright colours, versatile designs Disadvantages: a bit pricey
...When I look for baby clothes I want to find all sorts of garments, from dungarees to socks, dresses, hats, trousers, rucksacks, etc and also I want to be able to co-ordinate them. Baby Gap has to be one of my best findings and since then my favorite shop for baby clothes. The shop is well laid out, with lots of clothes and accessories to choose from that suit different ages. One of their distinctive points is that their clothes are very colorful ... ...very helpful too. The clothes are very comfortable and wash very well, so if I where you I would give it a go.
Although they are a bit pricey for baby/toddler clothes they usually have sale rails where you can find excellent bargains.
Overall, good value for money. ...

...I do have reservations about buying designer clothes for children, but eh..once in a while. I'm not scrooge but what the point they grow out of them especially toddlers. So, now my niece is 2 I think it's ok.
I too her down to BabyGap shop and she loved the clothes and wanted to buy everything....kids.
Well, I was impressed myself the quality of fabric and range of clothes was impressive.
The price wasn't that bad considering it's a good name. So, I got her coat for £40 and there was a discount of 10% so I got £4 off. I was very pleased and my niece seemed to like her coat. A day well spent.
The shop was well organised, it was spacious and the customer care people were happy to help.
Try BabyGap, quality clothing that you know will last....

...When I went to the Trafford Centre I absolutely loved the BabyGap show, yes it was expensive but what brilliant quality clothes. It had the cutest baby clothes like baby grows and the cutest toddler clothes.
If you want quality then BabyGap is the best. When my niece was born we used to buy her clothes from the BabyGap shop my mum used to complain and say there's no point because they'll grow out of it. Yes that's true especially with new born, but for toddlers I would recommend the BabyGap shop it's just the best designer shop for kids.
They always have huge discounts on when ever you go, and if they do not have anything in size, they'll more than happily order it for you, they'll take your phone number and ring you when it arrives. And although it was quite a small store, it had four or five customer friendly people...

Advantages: good value, friendly staff Disadvantages: none
...I visited gap for the first time last week and was bowled over. I initially went in to look in gap kids for a present for a new born baby and ended up touring the store. The staff were really friendly, they welcolmed me as i entered and left the store and they frequently asked me if i needed any help. (but not in an annoying way.) I found babygap really good value for money as i am on a tight budget at the moment and i purchased a wicked hat and socks all with the gap logo on (which sadly is very important to me!) They gave me a really cool drawstring bag, which i'm a sucker for. I browsed round the ladys section and have already spent next months wages. I was surprised at how good value it is. I'd always had the perception that it was really expensive but its not. And the clothes look really good quality.
Definetly recommend....
