Advantages: Makes any space safe and has endless uses Disadvantages: Only for the rich…needs plenty of space
...Imagine if you will a small front room (13’ 7” x 13’ 5”) where one wall of the room is taken up by a fabulous stone fireplace with stove, hearth and green marble effect plinths either side. Now imagine small baby learning to walk…and fall near this beautifully but dangerously appointed hearth! Well now you are in my living room watching my son take is first steps (well in the next month or so).
I looked around at fireguards, which are all very nice and functional, but only protect the actual hearth area. I need to literally cordon off the entire wall. How was I going to do it? Well I spotted the BabyDen, made confusingly by BabyDan!
The BabyDen is essentially a hexagonal playpen which comes with a gate, so you can just walk in, as opposed to having to stretch and reach into conventional playpens. However, the BabyDen can also...

Advantages: Great for more than one baby Disadvantages: A bit expensive
...After finding out I was having twins and starting to buy things the reality of how expensive my 2 bundles of joy would be sank in. Double pram, 2 car seats, 2 of everything not to mention the fact I was having a boy and a girl so I had to buy pink and blue clothes too!

The twins had great fun rolling around in it and also learned to pull themselves up on the bars. Now they are 14 months old and walking everywhere I have attached it to the walls and have got it as a room divide. They have their own little room now within our living room away from the temptation of plugs, tv's, fires etc.
I thought they would cry...

Advantages: Safe, comfortable, roomy, easily accessible, well designed. Disadvantages: Choose colour wisely - black looks like a prison! Quite a lot larger than traditional playpens.
...I was bought this Baby Dan Babyden as a gift when my second son was born. It became a godsend as I needed some where safe to place baby inorder to retain my sanity. I did not want to put baby in cot each time, he needed his own fun area to play.
I have a small West Highland White Terrier - Charlie - who is a lovely natured dog with a gentle tempermant. I could not however trust baby and dog to be left together in the same room. Placing baby in playpen was my answer to this problem and left me able to get things done.
The playpen was quite a lot larger than we expected and does take up a lot of room - bigger than a traditional playpen - check dimesions before purchase.
The Babydan babyden is available in white, silver or black. I chose black as it went best with the lounge where it would be situated, however I did find it looked...
