When it is time for changing the diaper you need a good changing mat. In this design changing mats from Baby Dan are available in a standard model measuring 50 x 65 x 4 cm. The changing mat has an impregnated cover.
Advantages: great for keeping newborns safe from toddlers! Disadvantages: a bit expensive
...We bought this as there was to be a close age gap between our children and we felt our newborn may need some "safety" at certain times from our eldest child!
We purchased it from ebay for £60 including postage. You could also purchase a playmat arch feature for it but we decided against this as we already ha a playmat which could be fitted into there.
It came with a soft blue padded mat to go inside which can be washed. When opened up it does take up a fair bit of space but is not too big and has a gate which can easily be opened and closed. It is very sturdy and cannot be tipped by a toddler. Overall we are very pleased with it as it has proved to be a very useful place to sometimes put our newborn!...

Advantages: a little protection Disadvantages: exepensive and rubbish for babies
...I brought a packet of pampers care mats when I was booked in to the hospital to have my baby 6 weeks ago. The reason I got these was to protect my bed when I was bleeding after the birth.
The changingmats are square in shape and the top of the mat is slightly padded with diagonal shapes. the back of the mats have some blue writing saying pampers changemats place this side down and various coloured pitchers. The size of each mat is 60 x 60 cm.
The packet has the Pampers logo at the top and says changemats underneath in white writing on an orange back round. There’s a pitcher of a woman changing a baby on a changingmat with yellow flowers in the back round. So it’s quite an eye catching packet.
The back of the packet has some pitches showing some suggestions for use they are:
Nappy changing at home.
Sitting a toddler on the couch...

Advantages: Soft; small to carry around Disadvantages: Quite thin; pricey
...Pampers ChangeMats are 60 x 60 cms in size. The side that is placed next to the surface is made from plastic and will, therefore, prevent any leaks from going through the mat. The side on which you place baby is soft and slightly padded. To be honest, I'm not sure if the mats would slide around or move, particularly if baby was wriggling / kicking.
The changemats are very thin. Personally, I see this as being both a good and a bad point. The advantage is that the mats can be folded up really small and are ideal for packing into baby's changing bag.
The disdavantage is that the mats would not give too much protection for baby when placing him / her onto a harder surface.
The size of the mats are ideal for babies, particularly when they are young, although two mats would be needed when changing an older baby, as one mat would...

This is one of the best books that I have read in quite a while. I first seen it in Asda but as it was still in hardback and the sleeve didn't give much away I didn't buy it. Then just a few days later it appeared in my mam's copy of The Book People... more
