...mattress base, which is cushioned and comfortable for falling heads and other body parts! It's machine washable - now that IS useful!
Everything comes apart and together without tools or fixings - it's just a question of inserting slider poles and pressing and clicking things in the right way, so it's easy to assemble and unassemble.
Why did I choose it ?
---------------------------
Lots of friends advised me to just buy a travelcot, instead of a playpen. It would have taken up a lot less space, but I went with the Babydan anyway - on the grounds that it is multi-purpose. It converts from a hexagonal playpen to a room divider, fireguard, or a stairgate.

Advantages: Safe, comfortable, roomy, easily accessible, well designed. Disadvantages: Choose colour wisely - black looks like a prison! Quite a lot larger than traditional playpens.

I have a small West Highland White Terrier - Charlie - who is a lovely natured dog with a gentle tempermant. I could not however trust baby and dog to be left together in the same room. Placing baby in playpen was my answer to this problem and left me able to get things done.
The playpen was quite a lot larger than we expected and does take up a lot of room - bigger than a traditional playpen - check dimesions before purchase.
The Babydan babyden is available in white, silver or black. I chose black as it went best with the lounge where it would be situated, however I did find it looked...

Advantages: Portability, safety Disadvantages: heavy

We already have a permanent cot with the two side rails that my daughter had been using.
Until two months ago, the TravelCot had been doubling as a toy storage area in the nursery. Then, as my daughter began to become more mobile, my wife and I were concerned that she might injure herself in the rails on the permanent cot. We then began putting her to sleep in the travelcot.
When we planned our recent holiday, we had requested that the travel company provide a cot, but we decided to take our Graco along as well. When we arrive, we found the travel company had provided...
