How it works
You have a silver switch on the inside of the straighteners where you can select one of three temperatures. A red and blue light will come on, and 15 seconds later you're ready to go! During these 15 seconds, I think it's the blue light that flashes to show you it's warming up. I'll edit if it isn't.
Performance
Please use on dry hair!! It's better for your hair and wet hair will damage the plates. The straightener is amazing. It's not as sturdy as other ones out there, but as the plates are 25% longer, you are able to straighten more hair and reach those awkward places! My hair is quite thick and extremely wavy, and I managed to get my hair poker straight in two strokes. I only had to do my hair in two sections, whereas I had to have four sections with my previous straighteners. I went out in the wind and light rain and my hair was still straight by the end of the day! Another thing that pleased me was the fact that my hair hadn't been dried out due to the ionic technology in the plates (and the use of heat protection spray!). I can get my hair extremely straight, and I can also curl my hair too (it's not that brilliant because the straightener isn't round, but you can get some nice ringlets).
Durability
Well, like always, they've been dropped and have had things dropped on them and they work. Not been scratched or dented!! 5/5 there!
Hair types
If this straightener works on my extremely thick and wavy hair, I should think it will work just as well on other hair types. Just make sure that you pick the right temperature for your hair. It says that is you have fine or coloured hair you should pick the lower setting but if you have thick hair you should pick the higher setting. Just check with the manual on this.

I bought these straighteners on deal in Tesco for about £40 a few months ago before my GHDs broke (Embarassing - I trod on them and they fell to pieces, but I couldn't claim on insurance or send them off for a new one as it was obvious it wasn't normal wear and tear) They got put in the cupboard as some 'just in case' straighteners or for travelling, as the three women in the house shared one pair of GHDs The straighteners themselves: Admittedly, ... ...price I wasn't really complaining. I received these straighteners as a birthday gift. I had orginally wanted some GHD straighteners but after doing my research on the internet I found out that these straighteners were apparently just as good and half the price. The hair straighteners come in a very funky case which has it's own heat resistant pad. The case is very handy and protects them if you take them on holiday or somewhere. The heat resistant pad is a extremely useful, with my ... ...whilst waiting for them to warm up which made a big mark on the top so this time I can just pop them onto the mat and not worry about burning something. The cord is also very long, it can easily reach from one side of a room to another. The straighteners themselves heat up to 230 degrees very quickly so you don't have to wait around. It's best to use a heat protective spray (I use treseme). I then seperate my hair into sections and straighten each ...

Advantages: High heat, gorgeous handy case, 5 year guarantee. Disadvantages: Possibly a bit too pricey. Needs better function.
These straighteners are in almost every respect as good as GHDs. These are probably the most expensive straighteners I ever bought (97 quid) and I'm still not quite sure I should have splashed out so much money on them. These, however, have a 5 year manufacturers guarantee which I found to be a big incentive as my last ones broke after just over a year. They look gorgeous with a handy bag to carry them in and use as a mat. Beyond the aesthetic look ... ...heats extraordinarily fast so they're very good in a hurry. Having tried my friend's GHDs I also have experienced very little difference between both makes. The one disappointment with this product for me is the steam function which is much more inferior to my last pair of straighteners which had a steam button. I feel you have very little control over the steam function and that it runs out of steam very quickly. Steam, I find, is very effective ...

I was bought these straighteners after my last pair literally blew up!! I have naturally curly hair so life without straighteners is just unimaginable!!
They look very stylish and the colour makes them look just like the description Pro Elegance, but they feel very plastic like when you pick them up and they are very light (one feature that is useful when you have to spend an hour with your hands above your head so to speak).
They come complete ... ...all in the bronze colour, these are useful tools.
They have three different heat settings but the dots rubbed off after a few uses so I now have no idea which is which so I often end up burning my hair as I accidently put it on the wrong setting, mmm whats that smell!!!!
They have a reasonable cable length which most don't and a swivel function on the cable which allows a little more freedom.

After previously owning GHDs (that blew up) i never thought i would buy any other straightener again.
When my GHDs blew up i was devistated as although brilliant the prices are ridiculosly high!
i had to go for a cheaper option which i was totally unsure about.
i went to the hairdressor for my usual cut and blow dry and was shocked when she straightened my hair, it was poker straight.. (better than GHDs.. no lie), i had to have them!
i looked in the argos... ON SALE £49.99 bargain!! and wow a 5 year guarntee. without mentionioning the carry case and heat mat!
i love this straighteners and i reccomend to all! ...
