I bought my wife a set of these straighteners for her birthday last month - she had been telling me for weeks how good the GHD straighteners are, but as they are so expensive I was under no circumstances to buy a set.
I did my homework and compared the specifications of more than a dozen different straighteners.
I quickly came to the conclusion that the critical part of the specification to ensure that the user gets 'salon performance' is the temperature and that for the performance to compete with that of the GHD straighteners the temperature had to be in excess of 200 degrees.
What drew me to The BaByliss 2099Utotal freedom straighteners was the added benefit that they are detachable and can be used anywhere.
I have never used straighteners myself (not enough hair left these days) but I guessed that it cannot be that easy to use straighteners while they are attached to the mains by a cable, so as these could be detached from the mains lead they must be a lot easier to use.
The straighteners can be heated by either straight connection via the mains lead, or by using the base unit (which is then connected to the mains via the same lead)
The manufacturer provides limited specifications as follows...
My wife was very pleased to receive her straighteners and was very surprised that I would think they could possibly be as good as the GHD variety.
However, she tried them out and gave them a very positive thumbs up. The maximum temperature of 230 degrees gives her as much straightening as she has ever received in the salon, the base she finds very useful for holding the straighteners in between adjustments to her hair position etc, and the detachable feature makes them very easy to use.
The warm up time (to maximum temperature) is very quick, though noticeably slower if warming up from cold using the base.
All round the best buy (in terms of hair care products) that I have ever made for my wife and on her behalf highly recommended.

that was a good review
i think i shall buy either these or the corded variety
i was worried these would not hold enough heat...
im a bit confused..
can you use a 'snap in' cord if you want? is there the option? will it swivel?
also are they solid ceramic or just coated?
hmmm

Look a good set of straighteners. You say it's not as quick when using he base, I just wondered if you could tell me approximately how quick. Suzy x
