I bought these tongs over a year ago now, after deciding I was fed up with my straight hair all the time. And despite using them only a few times due to the length of time it takes, I've found them very effective, although generally I keep my hair straight most of the time.

History of Babyliss:
Babyliss was established in 1960 in Paris. Their aim was to create hair drying and styling appliances for the hairdressing world. However by the mid 60's, after much sucess they began exporting products to the UK, and have since become a well known leading brand worldwide.

*Moving spiral presses the hair to give more curl definition

How easy are they to use?:
I clip my hair in sections, and curl just less than an inch section each time. You simply wind the hair round, clipping the ends as you would with normal tongs, and then press up the button which sets the curl better. They are realy effective and you can also change the amount of hair you curl depending on whether you want tight curls (less ... more

High heat, and heats up in around 5 minutes
Automatic temperature control, no need to change the temparature as there's only one setting.
How easy are they to use?: I clip my hair in sections, and curl just less than an inch section each time. You simply wind the hair round, clipping the ends as you would with normal tongs, and then press up the button which sets the curl better. They are realy effective and you can also change the amount of hair you curl depending on whether you want tight curls (less hair) or loser curls (using thicker sections of hair.)Are they any good: Simply YES! They're brilliant, they curl my hair and the curls stay in place all day. I also use a L'Oreal curl spray to help the curls stay in place all day. At first the curls are a bit too curly at times but they soon drop to a nicer, more natural look. Even the next day the hair is still curly, just loser and more messy. However you could still go out with hair like this.
Disadvantages: The only one that comes to mind is the amount of time it takes to curl a whole head of hair. My hair is just past shoulder length and quite thick and takes around 45 mins. So if you have longer hair it would take even longer and be quite a time consuming. This is probably the reason I don't curl my hair more often.
Price and avaiability: I bought mine around a year ago for £25. However they currently retail at £22.99 and are available from Boots, Argos and any other electrical shops. www.boots.com
Advantages: Full bouncy curls that last and last Disadvantages: Time consuming
How did I ever live without straightners? I can't believe I used to actually leave the house with hair like a wild woman before straightners came to the rescue. I have that really pants type of hair. It is neither straight nor curly. It has more of a wave than curl. But not a nice wave, nor an even wave. It is an all over the place wave.
This means I cannot tip my head upside down and dry my hair, nor leave it to the elements to dry on its own. ... ...out in public would scare small children.
So you can understand that hair appliances are, for me, very important. Therefore, I took alot of time umming and ahhing over tongs.
I need tongs that will tame this mop I call hair and give me sleek, glossy curls.
Okay admittedly, the tongs themselves look like a Victorian torture instrument. They have a metal barrel, and wrapped round that is a black piece of plastic in a spiral shape that moves up and ...

Advantages: Curls that are garenteed to last all day Disadvantages: grip is a little small
...Then I spotted these great Babyliss Curl and Press spiral tongs in my catologue priced at £28.99, and the ad promised to give long lasting defined curls.
After ordering and waiting patiently for 3 days the tongs finally arrived, I whipped them straight out of the box, plugged them in and quickly read the instructions.
Instuctions:-
> Make sure hair is completely dry.
> Take a small section off hair approx 1cm x 1cm.
> Place end of hair in tong ... ...hair slips out of the grip but this isn't really much of a problem as the more you use these tongs you get used to the small grip and this then tends to happen less often.
All in All I give Babyliss Curl and Press 9 out of 10 ...

Advantages: VERY effective on all types of hair, can make big curls, or thin ringlets Disadvantages: No light to show when heated up
When I was given these curlers as a present i was over the moon, they had previously been recommended to me by a friend and they really are the best curlers for gorgeous perfect ringlets, that stay in perfectly for the whole day.
I have extremely thick, difficult hair that is already quite curly - just untamed! It's extremely difficult to style but these curlers managed to work their way around it, I found I could curl large sections of hair, for ... ...hair, or I could curl small sections for small, springy ringlets, that looked amazing (but took quite a long time to do!) Many of my friends have, in turn, tried these curlers and I even convinced a few of them to go out and buy some of the same curlers for themselves!
The curlers don't even take long to heat up, about 30 seconds! However, there is no light to show you when they have heated up which was slightly worrying but not really a problem.

Advantages: curls that actually stay! Professional results available to the impatient and unprofessional! Disadvantages: None, except how long it takes if your hair is long and thick like mine..
These tongs are absolutely amazing! I have poker straight below shoulder length thick hair. Usually impossible to curl. I have literally spent three hours tonging my hair before only to have it fall straight again within an hour. These are different.
The don't look like much at first, I got them for Christmas and although I looked forward to trying them, I wasnt wholly optimistic, however that soon changed!
You wrap the hair around the barrels, ... ...compressed so that the curls stay put. You hold the press for ten seconds, let go and whoosh..curly hair!
If your hair is like mine, really thick and very straight, you take a thin length of hair, coat it in hair spray (high quality hair spray) then twist the hair very tightly before wrapping it round the tongs. The curls really stay, the corkscrew effect is really cute, but you can use it for other styles too with a little practice. The curls last ...
