The Babyliss Easy Cut - not easy and doesn't cut!
Advantages I can't think of any.
Disadvantages Uneven cutting. Poor battery life. Not easy to use.
In my opinion it doesn’t do what it says in the ads or what it says on the box. It does not cut evenly. It is not easy to use. On battery power it is weak and goes flat long before you finish the job.
For about 12 years I’ve cut my own hair to between grade 2 to 6 using traditional clippers from Phillips. I’ve become quite adept at it! As my old clippers are getting a bit tired I decided to try the Babyliss Easy Cut.Straight out of the box it feels of reasonable quality. It needs a full 16hr charge before first use, which I did. And I lubricated it using the supplied oil as instructed. After the full charge the first thing I noticed was that it appeared to run quite slow and laboured as if it was running low. I noticed that if you plug it in it runs much faster than on a fully charged battery.
As far as the cutting goes, well for me it is next to useless! Starting with hair that had grown out to a good bit over a grade 6 I decided to try a grade 4. I followed the instructions about using it in a mixture straight sweeps against the hair direction and in circular movements. I ended up with very patchy, clumpy hair. Some had been cut shorter than grade 4 and there were clumps that seemed to have not been cut at all. I think if I’d spent a lot longer it might eventually have got rid of the clumps, but I would still have been left with the short patches. Then the next problem became apparent. A full charge is nowhere near enough for a full cut! So you end up having to plug it in. It runs faster and therefore cuts a bit quicker but it is still uneven and slow. An added problem is that the plug goes in the side of the handle, which actually makes it difficult to hold. And the cable constantly gets in the way and tangles around the cutter.
I ended up resorting to my trusty old clippers to rescue me from an embarrassing haircut. Lucky I still had them! I found that I had to go to a grade 2 (pretty short) before I got to the bottom of the short bits. So the Babyliss used at grade 4 had cut patches of my hair to grade 2.I’m off to buy another set of proper clippers!
