Disadvantages: On/off buttons easy to knock accidentally.

I have to say I was somewhat of a late-comer to the world of hair straighteners. I was quite intrigued by them in the salons I frequented but having seen the price tags of GHD hair straighteners which I was repeatedly told were THE brand to buy, I was somewhat put off. After all, having never needed hair straighteners before could I justify a £100+ price tag for something I may never or infrequently use? This in mind, (& having tried a 'cheap' set of straighteners which my mum had bought & abandoned in the back of a cupboard...) I spoke to my hairdresser who said that many brands of straighteners were now rivalling GHD's & that the main thing to look for was a set of straighteners whch reached professional heat levels of 230 degrees. Offering Total Freedom When Straightening Hair

Advantages: Light, Easy To Use, Great Finish
Disadvantages: Got Too Hot On Highest Setting, Bit Fiddly When Using Power Base

I purchased these straighteners as a gift for my daughter, from Argos for just £17.09 in their sale. Glad I did, as mine decided to stop working on Boxing Day, and she kindly let me borrow them to do my hair!! I have fine fly away hair, and find that my hair doesn't straighten too easily, unless I use a ton of product. Even then it tends to lose it's straightness after a while. Upon using these new straighteners, I was pleased to find that they were comfortable to hold, and quite lightweight, meaning they were easy to use. The adjustable temperature meant that I could set it at a Medium heat, although it was originally set to High and got too hot for me to use!! Babyliss total freedom 230

Advantages: Temperature goes up to 230 degrees so works just as well as most of the top brands in the market
Disadvantages: Quite big

My husband bought me these straighteners over a year ago now and I think they're great! They have 5 different temperature settings to suit different hair types so will work well on all hair, it also has ceramic plates and goes up to 230 degrees for a salon temperature performance. The handles of the straighteners have a foam covering which protects your hands from the heat. The straighteners can also be used for cordless use which I find really convenient especially when I'm in a hurry. The straighteners stay hot whilst using them as cordless for about 4 minutes, you can then just put them back into the separate power base to reheat them which only takes a few minutes or so then they are ready to use again.
