i am a bartender and i am going to refuse to pour bacardi rum, instead i will pour another brand of rum. i will also tell people exactly why, and i will encourage others to boycott all bacardi products. the new ad campaign, (get an ugly girlfriend), is horrible and insulting to women everywhere. the only thing that leaves a worst taste in my mouth is the misbegotten, crappy, artificially flavored product they are trying to sell. why does bacardi think it's a good idea to use blatant hatred towards women to sell their product to women? the ad concept is not "ironic" or "funny". it is demeaning and insulting. bacardi ad team, take note--there's a special place in hell for people who play to the basest instincts. but then there's probably a special place in hell for everyone who works in advertising.
