"Helen And Nikki Did WHAT"

Yet another op about the best drama on TV, yep, you guessed it, Bad Girls (they did just win an award for best drama as well, ya know, so there’s prove, so there.) Being a devotee with this programme, I went out and brought all the box sets as soon as they hit the shops, which was of course on VHS a couple years back, it provided me with well over 36 hours of Bad Girls (whey hey). Then, recently I stumbled across the DVD version of the series (why do they release them years later…grrr), but this time with extras…how could I resist? So, I started with Series 2, seeing as this Series is one of my favourites along with the first series.

Nothing really vital here, but still interesting to watch, especially if you are a big devotee of the programme. I did enjoy watching these and I did see why the directors deleted these specific scenes, as I could see nothing important or appropriate that would have mattered to the actual programme. But still a good watch if you are a die-hard fan.

These are amusing to watch as you’ve got practically most of the cast included here and it’s good to see all the cast featured rather then just the most popular characters in the show. The best ones here are probably from Debra Stephenson who actually has a really good sense of humour, considering her character Shell Dockley is a pure evil psychopath. Nice to see more about the actual cast more then the characters and it proves that *everyone* does slip up.

This is basically outtakes of a trailer Simone Lahbib (Helen) and Mandana Jones (Nikki) took part in to promote the programme in South Africa. Mandana and Simone really play up to the cameras a lot and we see a lot of teasing going on between the two and they pretend to go to kiss each other and everything else. (Helen being the Governor in the show, falling for Nikki, the prisoner). And these guys know damn well how popular they are, so naturally they take good advantage of the fact...but hey, we aren't complaning!

This where we see various cast members head out to South Africa to promote Series 2 and also to learn about the culture of the South African prisons over there, so really, this documentary is very history based and you learn quite a lot of things about the actual country, the animals and everything else to do with South Africa. There are also interviews with the cast as well. Interesting if you are into history of places…but not an essential watch, only for die-hard fans like everyone on here – don’t deny it!

I’m not going to go into detail here as this will go on forever and I’ll spoil it all for you all ;). Each episode lasts for an hour and they are all uncut versions…I think Episode 13 has commentary on it, but I can’t figure out how to set all that up on the PS2 (anyone wanna swap for a DVD player? Man, it'll be more easier!).

1. Tug Of Love
2. Shit Happens
3. Visiting Time
4. Looking For Love
5. Mistaken Identity
6. Losing It
7. The Set-Up
8. Babes Behind Bars
9. The Leaving
10. Family Plan
11. Rough Justice
12. Facing Up
13. Oh What A Night!

And yes, episode 13 is where we see some nice scenes involving Helen and Nikki…I’ll say no more, perhaps it’ll tempt all you to go out and buy it now ;).

The packing is really well organised. It’s in a 4 fold up case as you’ve got 4 DVD’s here. As soon as you take the packing from the slip case you immediately see a picture of Nikki and Helen snogging each other, which might end up on my wall…c’mon guys, it’s a good sight, you know I’m right. On the back we’ve got a picture of some of the main cast with the cast names down the bottom. Inside the case you’ve got the episode guide on the left and on the right you’ve got the Extras menu, plus the link to the official Bad Girls web site. Open all that up and hey presto, 4 nice DVD’s, with some colour pictures printed inside of the cast. Nicely packaged.

So what are you waiting for? At £34.99 this was defiantly worth it, even if you do only buy it for *that* Helen and Nikki picture ;).
