Advantages: Buying abroad Much cheaper Disadvantages: You dont see the goods till they get here
...Thought you'd like to know that after years of wishing he had a bike, and driving me nuts with his constant signs when a bike whizzed past us. I booked my ever loving on a full motor bike course CBT and beyond for his 47th birthday.
He loved it and passed with flying colours. Next step was to buy a bike. Well there are dozens of the things around. Street bikes, sports bikes, rep-racers, cruisers etc., after scouring the web and endless magazines he decided on the Bandit 1200s.
Ok that was fairly painless, now to buy one. He decided that he would again search the Web, magazines. He was told one of the best ways was to buy from Holland, this meant it was cheaper. All he needed was a company to import it for home and to change the clocks and register it. Finally he was put on to Sliders Uk. They found him a machine in quick time...

...Just purchased a 2004 1200 Bandit S. After being reasonable and following break in procedure, keeping under 5500 on the tach for the first 1000 km, decided I'd like to see what this famous (or is that infamous) torque would actually do when fully engaged.
Well as seasoned a rider as I am, riding 20 years on all sorts of bikes in the street - sport genre, I was not prepared for what this bike can actually do.
At 9000 RPM in third gear (with two gears and 2000 rpm to go and before redline I was flying (150+km), this bike is misnamed as an all rounder. The power it puts out at the back wheel is something that needs to be experienced.
Okay so it has power to burn. Of that there is no doubt. The more surprising aspect is how smooth and comfortable this bike is on longer trips. Typically two hours of highway travelling is enough...

Advantages: Easy handling, comfortable ride. Very fun Disadvantages: Can be intense
...and full of itself you get of with a smile on your face.
****Looks****
The classic look of the unfaired bike really appeals to me. I think it's all round looks are good. From the single spot light on the unfaired to the twin shaped lights mounted in the faired version. The frame has a sleek design where it runs under the panels at the seat. The chassis design hasn't really had many modifications from new. In 99 they made some minor mods, but chose not to bring it in line with some bike modelling the cutting shapes and sharp detail.
There are endless modifications you can do to bandits; they still remain one of the most played with bikes when it comes to accessories. The Bandit has street fighter appeal, which seems to be coming in more and more.
****Recommendation****
Who would I recommend too?
Commuters
1st time buyers
Weekend riders...
