Bank One are awful. I joined because of the introductory interest rate and for a couple of months everything went smoothly.
Then Bank One forgot to record my payment and charged me huge interest. This in itself was sloopy, but then to sort it out, when they admitted it was their mistake, took three months, 22 phone calls, three letters and countless useless tele service people.
The firm is inept, the service team was unhelpful, there were long waits and they never did anything they said they were going to do.
If you are looking for a competitive credit card there are better deals and better companies out there.
Advantages: absolutely none Disadvantages: could be hit with unexpected bills or charges
I joined Bank One so that I could make use of their very low rate for card transfer and I was very satisfied with the way my account was handled. Absolutely no problems, the interest was charged as stated, and I have now recently paid off my account. It has been taken over by the Halifax Bank, and I recently received, completely unsolicited, 5 blank cheques and One cheque payable to myself for £500.It was only after reading the small print that I ... ...account and that there was also a handling charge of 1.5% attached to these cheques. It is possible that some people who receive these cheques may be mistaken into thinking that the cheques are a gift to them, especially the one made out payable to them. I feel it is deplorable that any company should send out items like this especially as there is a chance that they could go missing in the mail, and the first anyone would be aware of them is when ...

Advantages: is accepted worldwide, spend what you have, no fee at Ryanair and Easyjet Disadvantages: some internet and normal stores don't accept it
...even now, and the reason why I won't close it is because I find Visa Electrons useful.
I have used Visa Electron online through many shops before I was able to get a Visa Debit Card, and I never had any problem to have my card accepted. There are two shops I keep on using it even now that I own a Visa Debit card and Mastercard:
-- Ryanair
-- Easyjet
You know the reason why? When you book a flight online with Easyjet or Ryanair, you are asked to pay a debit card fee of £1.60 (if you pay with Solo/Maestro/Visa Debit) or a Credit Card fee of £3.00 (if you pay with Visa credit or Mastercard, even if it's the Ryanair one! Now, Visa Electron is another of the possible choices, and the ONLY one that is free of charge. My first bank account with the Halifax was an Easycash account, recently upgraded to a Visa Electron. Although now I have...

Advantages: Quick and Convienient in the sense that you do not need to carry cash for paying for large items Disadvantages: Some shops especially charity still do not accept them
...some of them still do not have the facilities installed yet.
My strong advise is that if you do not have a visa electron with your bank account get one now mate, they are a great advantage in todays world of convenience particulary in the respect of paying for goods all over the world and withdrawing cash....

Advantages: Limited protected against going overdrawn in certain cases (one transaction per 3-5 day rolling period) Disadvantages: MIsleading false sense of not being able to go overdrawn
...It is possible to go overdrawn even if just using a Visa Electon debit card alone.
There is a popular misconception that as payments made in shops and on websites with Visa Electron debit card are checked with bank to see if there are sufficient account funds, that one can't go overdrawn if one just uses Visa Electron, but one can, as unlike withdrawing cash from a ATM the amount is not debited from the account straight away but takes 3 to 5 days, so one can make multiple payments with a check being against only balance that does not include the other payments. This was not clear to me, and on that card I was unable to check my balance as it did not work in ATMs or at Post Office, only for debit payment at shops, but that is another story. I found this all this to my cost in unauthorized bank charges which I can ill afford and I will...
