Barbecue Convert - Thanks to the Weber Gold BBQ
Review of Weber One Touch" Gold Barbecue" by
onionsj
Advantages: Superb results, Easily moved around, lots of accessories
Disadvantages: Grill size / shape - means it's difficult to fit in the sink to clean
...at the various options the Weber provided the best quality and value for money!
The Weber range is endless with both charcoal and gas versions on offer.
The Weber "one touch" Gold is a charcoal version. It is mid range with SIlver (low) and Platinum (high).
They also come in two gril sizes 18.5" and 22.5"
Prices for the Gold are between £129 and £159, Silver £99 - 129, Platinum £199+
All have varying features:
Included in the Gold are:
* Ash ... ...know someone that's had a weber for nearly 20 years and have never had a problem with it!)
* Side Coal holders - so you can push the coal to the side and cook by an "indirect" method, i.e. a chicken in the middle. (I've never used these so can't really comment - but the ideas a good one!)
The accesory range is also endless from chopping boards, to utensils, not forgetting spiced woodchips, all weather covers, cleaning aids, lighters, etc...etc....etc....

Outback BBQ's don't last
Review of Outback Titanium 3 Burner by
Pablo12
Advantages: Looks nice
Disadvantages: Poor quality and doesn't last
Outback BBQ's look amazing when you buy them but after a couple of years you realise they are made of impressively heavy but extremely cheap materials. Despite using a cover, regular cleaning and storage over winter rust set in and last week whilst having a BBQ the paint work around the cooking area caught fire - and we're talking major flames here - just to make it clear it wasn't fat but the paint which has now all been stripped off?????
My burners ... ...is also starting to rust. I thought it was just me but have subsequently spoken with friends who have had similar problems.
If you want something that's nice to look at buy one - if you want one that lasts - don't bother. I'm off to buy a new BBQ and it won't be an Outback. ...

No More Getting Dirty In The Garden!!
Review of Homebase Instant Lighting Charcoal by
johnny040676
Advantages: No mess, no more lighter fluid, easy to use
Disadvantages: a bit dearer than normal charcoal but well worth it.
...again - untill I discovered Homebase instant lighting charcoal.
Getting Dirty
I suppose the main problem with a traditional bbq is the fact that when you come to set it up ready to light, you have to start stacking charcoal up neatly with strategically placed fire lighters or you have to pour lighter fluid all over the place and I think this tastes on the food. So all this normally results in you getting covered in black charcoal dust and ... ...I happened to be in Homebase and noticed their instant light charcoal. Loads of other people do it also but it seems to come in the same size packs and cost the same where ever you buy it. Basically it is a normal looking bag of charcoal but has four further bags inside all filled with charcoal.
How Does It Work Then?
All you have to do when you come to light your bbq is take one of the bags out and lay it in your bbq, you can use two if ...

Classic BBQ but success is down to you!
Review of Weber One Touch Silver BBQ by
LJJames
Advantages: nice design, easy to move, large grill, very robust and well made
Disadvantages: can't vary the height of the grill
I have one of these BBQ's and it's served us well over the years. I am a firm believer that a successful BBQ experience is 75% down to the 'chef' and 25% on the design/shape/performance of the BBQ. Lets face it, you're only heating food on a grill above hot coals - you get the same result regardless of how much the BBQ cost, what it looks like, who made it etc.
If you're a die hard BBQer then I suspect you'll have/need a gas BBQ as they do produce ... ...fun of a BBQ is lighting the fire, waiting for the coals to burn and even experimenting with different woods and coals to get different flavoured smoke into your food. So for me, a coal BBQ wins.
This particular BBQ is a nice design, shape and size and has been the benchmark for all BBQ's for years. It is easy to move around due to the wheels and side handles. You can even move it when it's hot if you're careful because the handles don't get hot.

A Bit Of A Damp Squib!!
Review of Asda Football DISP BBQ by
johnny040676
Advantages: Packaging from 100% well - managed forests
Disadvantages: Not enough charcoal, some go out, expensive
...got five of them from Asda this is the product I will now review.
CONSTRUCTION
They are, like most disposable BBQ's, rectangular in shape and 12" X 10" in size, they are constucted from foil and make up tray which is the BBQ base this contains the charcoal and some lighting paper, then there is a metal gauze on top which makes up the cooking surface. This is then placed in a cardboard box and wrapped in celophane.
On the front is a piece ... ...also offers a 28 day Asda brand guarantee where you can return a product if you are not happy with it within 28 days and and get a full refund - a good thing as this is what I intend to do with two of them. There are also some instructions for use, some warnings for use and also some food safety guidlines.
COST
At £2.17 each they are not cheap we normally pay a lot less than this but were in a hurry to get going and couldn't be bothered to ...
