My daughter just loves Barbie things, so when Christmas time comes people know just what to buy her. This tea set was one of them things. I am not sure how much it cost when purchased as I am not cheeky enough to ask, but I found one the same one in Toys R Us for £4.99p, so would it be worth the money. Read on to find out.
What is included in the tea set? --------------------------------------------
4 Cups 4 Saucers 4 Tea Spoons 1 Large Tea Pot Milk Jug And a Sugar Pot
The design of the Tea Set --------------------------------------
The design is really very basic; the set is all made of plastic, although there is one available in porcelain, which I would not recommend anyway for children.
The plastic seems pretty strong, and unbreakable, although I am sure that it could be broke but not very easily. I will say the only reason its called a Barbie Tea Set is for the Barbie stickers that are on each item except the spoons. This is what makes the set cost more, even though it is cheap at £4.99, without them Barbie stickers on it would be a lot cheaper.
What age are they for ------------------------------
These are recommended for ages 3+, but younger children could play with them, as there are no small parts. The age on it is due to the fact that younger children may not know what to do with them, as it is for role-play.
What does Chloe do with her set? ----------------------------------------------
Well obviously these are made of plastic, so no hot drinks are used in them, but with Chloe only been 6 years old, there is no way I would let her use hot water anyway.
The way I do it with Chloe, I find is really good as it means she gets full use out of all her items.
Firstly I put water in her Tea Pot, Then in her milk jug I put some orange, she fills each cup with water first, then puts in the orange, and uses her spoon to mix the juice all up. She goes up to whoever is in my house handing out cups of juice loll. So have you noticed I never mention the sugar bowl. Well to be honest I could not think of how to use this, so we decided to take the lid of and put a few biscuits in for her. She loves doing this and I think it's the best way that you could use it.
My Opinion -----------------
I think this Tea Set is good value for money, it has taught Chloe role-play, and also how to share things, that may sound weird about sharing, but she has never let her brother do anything with her, but since she has had this she lets him join in with her Tea Parties, and she is letting him share toys more.
For £4.99 I do think it was reasonably prices, but would have been cheaper with no Barbie Stickers on. My Daughter loves playing with this, and every Saturday afternoon she has it out doing her rounds with the juice, when I watch her playing with it she seems so grown up and its really great to watch how much she is developing. I would recommend anyone to buy this for their child, they have so much fun with it, and it does help them develop.
