I've had both a Barclaycard Visa card and Mastercard for many years now. I've found them useful particularly for the range of services provided. Card protection and extended warranty are things that I've found very handy. Barclaycard even have an online service where you can view your statements and latest transactions - about time! The negative points are obvious - the APR is hefty. Not a card to use if you're not in the habbit of paying off your balance each month. However, if you do pay off your card in full - it's a good one to have. I have have a Barclaycard BT Cellnet with discounted call charges.
I really do think Barclaycard should do something about their rewards scheme. It totally sucks. There was nothing I wanted to spend my points on in the last catalogue - all I ever use them for it to upgrade my mobile phone handset. Surely they can do better than this. The old catalogues where better!
I've never used my Barclaycard. I use an Alliance & Leicester card because instead of loyalty points, you get 0.5% cashback at the end of the year for all your purchases - money better than points - Adam
I agree the Rewards scheme is getting a bit boring. I've never used any of my points despite being in since it started. As a gold card holder there used to be an extra catalogue with some better items, but just as I had enough points, they discontinued it. Typical.

I totally agree, solid and reliable but hardly innovative or attractive.
