Barclays has the worse online banking that I have ever seen, and I've used a few (Halifax, Cahoot, Alliance & Leicester) to name but a few. Firstly, the site is incredibly slow, and to make it worse, if you click a link twice to try and speed it up, it will kick you out, because apparently this is a ‘security risk’? Secondly, Barclays have stripped out all of the useful internet banking features! You CAN’T setup a new payee online, apparently this is also a ‘security risk’, instead you have to use telephone banking, and give your details to an Indian call centre! What’s worse is it lets you think you can setup an online payee, it takes you, slowly, through 5 screens where you enter all the details, then only after you spent ages entering the details and you press the confirm button that you are told you can’t! Thirdly, you can’t transfer more than £1000 in any one day; apparently even this is a ‘security risk’! Even if you have setup the payee via the telephone banking, and transferred money to that payee 100s of times previously! This is very, very irritating, as I find myself needing to transfer large sums to other accounts quite often. Finally, I have emailed Barclays about all of these matters, but never even got an acknowledgement, so they obviously don't care about their customers views!

Barclays took over my Woolwich accounts in May this Year, and they have been useless all round so far, especially the Call Centre and Online banking side of them. I can't see me staying with them much longer in fact. I really have got to keep a close eye on all of my finances now.............Roy......

Advantages: Easy to set-up, easy to use, security like fort knox Disadvantages: you have to wait for passcodes to come in post, you can't pay in money (obviously!!)
