I am mad about the Internet and please let me know of any Free Sites you know about.
This Opinion has been written by a friend of mine who has very recently switched from Barclays to NatWest (I didn't get involved apart from saying I would but this Opinion up for people to read).
I personally would not go around slating our Competitors but considered my frineds experiences worthy of your interest.
The Opinion is as follows ;
Talk about being just a number and not recognised for who or what you are.
When I was a student , all the Bank's courted us like crazy.
At University we were approached by all the major UK PLC's trying to convince us to come and work for them.
When we Graduated the Bank wanted to lend me lots of money to buy a Car.
Then what happened (I dropped into this big void).
You see when I graduated , I went on to work for one of the large Accountancy firms , I am earning a reasonable salary , own my house , have savings in the building society etc.etc.
But to Barclays I am just a number.
Why ?
Three weeks ago , never having gone overdrawn since my student days my account dropped into negative territory by just under £100.
If no money was going through my Bank a/c I could understand their next course of action but I have almost £5,000 per month credited to my A/C.
Barclays returned a cheque , no overdraft letter , just a straight return.
When I contacted Barclays they stated it was my error for issuing the cheque - that would be the case except they had paid a Standing Order the previous week for £500.00 which I had called into my branch to cancel 2 weeks earlier.
OH ! they said.
Yes I got the unpaid fee back but my whole complaint relates to the fact that even if I had miscalculated surely someone earning £5K per month would merit more than just a returned cheque.
I spoke to my friend at NatWest (he's a Business Manager) and he introduced me to a Personal Banking Manager.
She came out in the evening to see me at Home and after finding out all about my personal circumstances she returned the following week confirming I could become an Advatage Premier Client with a £10,000 Overdraft Facility.
They are looking at taking my Mortgage from the Halifax as they have special packages available for Advantage Premier Clients.
Why Couldn't Barclays look further than the end of their nose.
NatWest have helped me more in 10 days than Barclays did in 16 years.
How helpful would this review be to a person making a buying decision? Rating guidelines
Barclays took over my Woolwich accounts in May this Year, and they have been useless all round so far, especially the Call Centre and Online banking side of them. I can't see me staying with them much longer in fact. I really have got to keep a close eye on all of my finances now.............Roy......
Advantages: Efficient, Good Variety of products, Best offered Cash ISA 2 years running Disadvantages: Try and sell you products that are not always beneficial to you.
